Aim and objectives:to compare both the ways of xation in randomly selected cases in distal third tibia fractures to known the best way of xation technique & implant. Material and methods: In our study we have selected 40 patients with fractures of the distal third tibia, who attended the department of orthopaedics treated by open reduction and internal xation with using Medial/Lateral distal locking compression plates, in Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Hospital, Jaipur during the year January 2019 to June 2020. The duration of follow-up to evaluate result was six months. We divided the distal leg bone fractures into two groups. Group 1: Include the distal third tibial fractures which are simple or comminuted treated as open reduction & internal xation with lateral locking compression plate. Group 2: Includes the distal third tibial fractures which are simple or comminuted, treated as open reduction & internal xation with medial locking compression plate. Results: There was no signicant difference in duration of surgeries and suture removal. In there were 3 cases of nonunion 1 case in lateral plating group and 2 cases in medial plating group. Group 1 were show 20% excellent, 45% good, 30% fair & 5% poor result. Group 2 were show 15 % excellent, 30% good, 45% fair &10% poor result according to Tenny & Wiss criteria. Conclusion: Lateral plating was much better in as a procedure and outcome wise.

Background: Intra articular distal humerus fractures are challenging and cumbersome to treat. Therefore osteosynthesis of such fractures is required. The aim of our study was to evaluate the functional outcome of intra articular distal humerus fractures AO type 13C by osteosynthesis using olecranon osteotomy with pre contoured locking compression plates in orthogonal plate configuration.

Methods: Thirty patients were included in our study comprising of 18 males and 12 females. Mean age was 39.63 years with mean follow up of 34 weeks. 7 were AO type 13C1, 9 were AO type 13C2 and 14 were AO type 13C3. Osteosynthesis was done for all fractures by olecranon osteotomy approach. Functional outcome was assessed using mayo elbow performance score.

Results: Mean flexion attained at the end of follow up was 127.56 degrees with mean extensor lag of 7.16 degrees. Mean arc of motion was 120.4 degrees. Mean mayo elbow performance score at the end of follow up was 80.36. Mayo elbow performance score in patients aged less than 40 years of age was not statistically significant as compared to patients more than 40 years of age. Functional outcome was also dependent on fracture subtype.

Conclusions: Osteosynthesis of distal humerus fractures AO type 13C using pre contoured locking compression plates in orthogonal plate configuration by olecranon osteotomy provides excellent visualization of fracture and better functional outcome.

AbstractAn 18-month-old miniature donkey was presented for evaluation and treatment of a left carpal valgus present since birth. Clinical examination confirmed the severe and unstable carpal valgus. Radiographs and computed tomography revealed a caudally luxated ulnar carpal bone, malformation of the distal radial epiphysis, as well as a complete collapse of the lateral part of the radiocarpal joint. Outward rotation of the limb distal to the joint collapse was also visible. Surgical treatment was elected and a pancarpal arthrodesis performed using two short 3.5 mm locking compression plates. Ten months later, the donkey was pasture sound and radiographs showed complete fusion of the carpal joints.
