SummaryThe relative immunogenicity in mice of whole influenza virus, and virus split with different disrupting agents, was compared. Using the single radial immunodiffusion test to estimate the haemagglutinin antigen concentration in different virus preparations, it was found that, in general, split virus preparations induced substantially lower titres of HI antibody in mice than whole virus after one or two injections of the antigen.
