Sequence stratigraphy is derived from seismic stratigraphy and has been widely used in sedimentary minerals, especially in oil and gas exploration. At present, the application and research of sequence stratigraphy can be roughly divided into three schools, namely, the sedimentary sequence stratigraphy of Vail, the genetic formation sequence of Galloway and the high-resolution sequence stratigraphy of Cross. They have common terms, but the concepts and ideas are different.
