A new species of Orchidaceae, Coelogyne pianmaensis, is described and illustrated from western Yunnan, China. Morphologically, it is similar to Coelogyne corymbosa, but differs from the latter by having dark brown eyelike blotches surrounded by brownish-yellow on lip, 1-veined obovate-oblong leaves, 7-veined oblong-lanceolate sepals, shorter pedicel and ovary, and 7-veined petals.

A new species of the genus Kurixalus (Anura: Rhacophoridae) is described from western Yunnan, China. Genetically the new species, Kurixalusyangi sp. n., is closer to Kurixalusnaso than to other known congeners. Morphologically the new species is distinguished from all other known congeners by a combination of the following characters: smaller ratios of head, snout, limbs, IND, and UEW to body size; male body size larger than 30 mm; curved canthus rostralis; weak nuptial pad; brown dorsal color; absence of large dark spots on surface of upper-middle abdomen; presence of vomerine teeth; gold brown iris; single internal vocal sac; serrated dermal fringes along outer edge of limbs; granular throat and chest; rudimentary web between fingers; and presence of supernumerary tubercles and outer metacarpal tubercle.

A new species of genus Megophrys from Gaoligong Mountains, Yunnan Province, China is described. Phylogenetic analyses based on mitochondrial DNA and nuclear DNA all clustered the new species as an independent clade nested into the subgenus Panophrys. The smallest genetic distance based on 16S rRNA gene between the new species and its congeners was 3.0%. The new species could be identified from its congeners by a combination of following characters: moderate body size (SVL 31.0–34.8 mm in males); vomerine ridge weak, vomerine teeth absent; dorsal skin relatively smooth; tongue slightly notched behind; tympanum rounded and relatively large, 0.54 times of eye length; a horn-like tubercle on edge of each upper eyelid small; tibio-tarsal articulation reaches middle eye when leg stretched forward; finger tips rounded, not expanded to small pad; toes with narrow fringes and rudimentary webbing; ventral hindlimbs semitransparent purplish with greyish white pigments; ventral body scattered with distinct dark patches in the middle.

SummaryMacFallite, Ca2(Mn3+,Al)3(OH)3[SiO4] [Si2O7], is a new species occurring with manganite, braunite, orientite and pyrolusite blebs, stringers, and framboidal aggregates, which replace calcite in fissures and lenses in Keweenaw basalt near Manganese Lake, Copper Harbor, Keweenaw County, Michigan. It is rich reddish brown to maroon in coarse aggregates; compact massive material is brown to dull pink. The streak and powder are brown with a reddish tint. Lustre silky to subadamantine, specific gravity 3.43(2), hardness 5+, cleavage {001} perfect; twinning by reflection on {100} is universal. The mineral is monoclinic, space group P21, or P21/m, Z = 2, a 8.929(6), b 6.045(5), c 10.905(7) Å, β 119.10(3)°, α 1.773(5), β 1.795(5), γ 1.815(5), sign + or −, pleochroism α yellow, β light brown, γ dark brown, γ‖b. Macfallite appears to be structurally related to pumpellyite while orientite is apparently related to ardennite.

Thrips laurencei sp.n. is described from specimens collected on flowers of Hydrangea macrophylla in Western Ghats range of Tamil Nadu, India. This new species shows sexual dimorphism in colour, with the females brownish yellow with brown shadings but the males uniformly yellow.

A new species of Rubiaceae, Rubia pianmaensis, is described and illustrated from western Yunnan, China. Morphologically, it is similar to Rubia siamensis, but differs from the latter by having larger stipules, 5-6-merous flowers, and shorter inflorescences.

Bulbophyllum yingjiangense (Epidendroideae; Malaxideae), a new species from western Yunnan, China, is illustrated and described here based on morphological and phylogenetic evidence. The new species is phylogenetically close to B. rothschildianum, and they are also similar in floral morphology. The new species differs in its yellowish green flowers without stripes, pseudobulbs with obvious ridges, lateral sepals glabrous with short tails and leaf with white waxy powder on its adaxial surface.
