The new species Oldenlandia vasudevanii from the Southern Western Ghats, Palakkad, Kerala, India, is described and illustrated. The species differs from its allied species O. stocksii and O. hygrophila in terms of stout pedicel, calyx lobes exceeding the level of corolla, number of stipules, number of accessory calyx teeth, and size of the corolla tube. Description of taxa with distribution, ecology and comparison among allied taxa has been provided.

A new species of Striga from Tamil Nadu parts of Western Ghats of India is described and illustrated as Striga kamalii sp. nov. The new species shows similarity with S. densiflora in having a densely hispid stem, linear leaves, bracts longer than calyx, and oblong fruit shorter than calyx lobes, but differs in the 10-ribbed calyx, the glandular hairs on calyx and corolla tube, and the obovate-rounded petals. A detailed description, with data on distribution and parasitism together with relevant taxonomic notes and colour photographs are provided.

A new species of Ophiorriza (Rubiaceae) from southern Western Ghats, India is here described and illustrated. Ophiorriza meenachilarensis is similar to O. eriantha, from which it differs in its herbaceous habit (vs. shrubby habit), densely villous-hirsute stem (vs. pubescent-glabrous stem), entire stipule (vs. bifid stipule), short-peduncled cymes (vs. comparatively long-peduncled cymes), unscented flowers (vs. scented flowers) and corolla tube with a ring of hairs at the middle of the tube (vs. corolla tube without a ring of hairs). A detailed description, illustrations, ecological observations, and geographic distribution are provided.

A new species, Plectranthus sahyadricus is described from Munnar, southern Western Ghats, India. The species shows similarity with Plectranthus beddomei, in its stem and leaf characters but differs mainly by presence of a ring of hairs at young nodes, floral characters like cyme length, number of flowers per cyme, structure of the fruiting calyx tube, anterior corolla lip not fully opened and form an inverted dome over mouth, presence of hairs inside corolla tube and size of the disc. Detailed description, IUCN red list category and other relevant notes are provided.

A new species, Glycosmis nelliyampathiensis from Nelliyampathy hill ranges of southern Western Ghats, Palakkad, Kerala, India is described and illustrated here. The plant differs from its allied species G. angustifolia in terms of its unifoliolate leaves, elliptic leaflets, 1–4 flowered monochasial cymose inflorescence, hairiness of the corolla apex, sub-capitate stigma and ellipsoid-oblong fruit.

We reassess the taxonomy of the Indian endemic snake Xylophis captaini and describe a new species of Xylophis based on a type series of three specimens from the southernmost part of mainland India. Xylophis deepakisp. nov. is most similar phenotypically to X. captaini, with which it was previously confused. The new species differs from X. captaini by having a broader, more regular and ventrally extensive off-white collar, more ventral scales (117–125 versus 102–113), and by lack of flounces on the body and proximal lobes of the hemipenis. Phylogenetic analysis of mitochondrial 16S DNA sequences strongly indicates that the new species is most closely related to X. captaini, differing from it by an uncorrected pairwise genetic distance of 4.2%. A revised key to the species of Xylophis is provided.

A new species of Cinnamomum (Lauraceae), C. nilagiricum is described and illustrated on the basis of distinct morphological characters known from Nilgiris, southern Western Ghats, India.  It is allied to C. dubium but differs in the nature of trunk; shape, size and smell of leaves; 4-locellate anthers of whorl III stamens etc.  A detailed description, distribution, phenology, illustration, colour plates and relevant notes are provided.

Arisaema madhuanum, a new species of Araceae from the southern Western Ghats, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically allied to Arisaema attenuatum, from which it differs in having subulate neuters on the male spadix, a wide-mouthed spathe tube with the margins dilated into broad auricular extensions, and an erect to arching, oblong-lanceolate spathe limb with a narrow constricted basal region. The new taxon belongs to Arisaema sect. Sinarisaema Nakai.
