A new species of hymenosomatid freshwater crab, Neorhynchoplax Sakai, 1938, is described from Patna, Bihar, northern India. The species resembles the Indian N. woodmasoni (Alcock, 1895) and N. alcocki Kemp, 1917, but differs in the form of the carapace, armature on the cheliped merus, number of spines on the dactylus of the ambulatory legs, and structure of the male abdomen.

A new species of potamid freshwater crab, Himalayapotamon garhwalense n. sp., is described from a stream near Khanda in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. The new species is differentiated from all congeners by a suite of carapace and gonopod features, including the short, stout and conical G1 terminal joint with gradually tapered distal portion. Himalayapotamon Pretzmann, 1966, is now represented by 11 species including H. garhwalense n. sp. An identification key to the species in the genus is provided.

A new species of freshwater crab of the genus Himalayapotamon Pretzmann, 1966, is described based on specimens collected from various localities in Chamba District in Himachal Pradesh state, northern India. Himalayapotamon chambaensis n. sp. can be distinguished from congeners by several carapace and gonopod characters: a short median longitudinal granular ridge behind the frontal margin which reaches to the epigastric regions, the terminal segment of the male first gonopod is long and distinctly bent outwards, and the male second gonopod has a long and distally coiled distal segment. An identification key to all the 12 species in the genus is provided.

Abstract A new species of freshwater crab of the genus Teretamon Yeo & Ng, 2007, Teretamon husicum sp. nov., is described here from Husa Town, Longchuan County, Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. Teretamon husicum sp. nov. can be distinguished from other species by a suite of morphological characters, including a bilobed frontal margin, smooth posterolateral regions, and a broadly rounded dorsal flap on the G1 terminal segment. An updated identification key for the species of the genus Teretamon is provided.

Recent survey of the epilithic diatoms in the running waters of Réunion Island led to the discovery of a new species of Achnanthidium. Achnanthidium palmeti sp. nov. belongs to the group of Achnanthidium taxa with terminal raphe fissures curved to the same side of the valve. The new species differs from other taxa in this group by a higher stria density and the areolae morphology along the axial area; moreover, apart from Achnanthidium latecephalum H. Kobayasi, A. palmeti sp. nov. is the only species having raphe vestiges. The new species was found in oligotrophic waters with very low conductivity and circumneutral pH.

A new species of freshwater crab of the genus Hydrothelphusa A Milne-Edwards, 1872, is described based on specimens collected from a forested region of southeastern Madagascar. Hydrothelphusa vencesi n. sp. is clearly distinguished from its congeners by its distinctive first gonopod (G1) with a terminal article that is in the form of a long straight-sided cone, and by a dorsal membrane at the segment junction of G1 that is broad and diamond-shaped. A key is provided to separate the five species of Hydrothelphusa.

A new species of pseudothelphusid crab, Allacanthos yawi n. sp., from the Río Volcán drainage, Puntarenas Province, southern Costa Rica, Central America, is described and illustrated. This is the second species to be assigned to the genus Allacanthos Smalley, 1964. The new species is distinguished by its congener by having a first gonopod with a mesiolaterally flattened distal portion, a concave and nearly smooth subdistal portion of the lateral and cephalic sides, a narrow marginal process with a nearly straight distal border, and a lateral lobe with a sharp tip on the apex. An amended diagnosis for Allacanthos is provided.
