On the subfamilial assignment of Platybunoides (Opiliones: Eupnoi: Phalangiidae), with the description of a new species from China

Platybunoides Šilhavý, 1955, currently included in the subfamily Platybuninae Staręga, 1976, is reassigned to Phalangii-nae Latreille, 1802 for the absence of ventral spur in proximal segment of chelicerae, the absence of ventral thorns on pe-dipalpal femur, and the presence of distomesal bump on pedipalpal patella and tibia. A new species, Platybunoides songisp. nov., from Liupan Mountain, Ningxia, China, is described and can be recognized by having a large ocularium, unarmed pedipalps, hairs being restricted to ventral femur, and the presence of a small bump distally on prolateral femur.

Arisubathynella gen. nov. is established for a new species, A. cheongmiensis sp. nov. from South Korea. An illustrated description is given. The new genus stands out in the family Parabathynellidae by six-segmented antennules, three-segmented antenna without medial seta on inner margin of third segment, absence of mandibulartooth of the ventral edge, bare proximal segment of maxilla, two-segmented exopods of thoracopods II-VII, and male thoracopod VIII with elongated external lobe. Arisubathynella gen. nov. is the fourth genus known from South Korea and foreshadows the great diversity of bathynellaceans in the Far East.

The first deep-sea representative of Halophytophilus Brian, 1919 is described from samples of dead cold-water coral fragments, glass sponge skeletons and underlying sediment collected from the Porcupine Seabight (NE Atlantic). Halophytophilus lopheliae sp. nov. can be distinguished from its congeners by the dimensions of the P1 endopod and the position of the inner seta on its proximal segment. Moreover, we present the first description of a male in this genus. The occurrence of Halophytophilus and three other ectinosomatid genera with prehensile first legs is remarkable in the deep sea and an indication that the hard substrates of the coral degradation zone may provide an exceptional habitat. A key to the five species of Halophytophilus is included.
