Reproductive biology of the bronze birch borer, Agrilus anxius Gory, was examined by measuring the influence of host on maturation feeding period, fecundity, incubation period, egg viability, and longevity. Initially, females fed Betula pendula Roth leaves had the highest fecundity and egg hatchability. However, when large numbers of beetles were caged on an individual B. pendula in 1982, females did not oviposit. Fecundity and egg hatch varied on Populus deltoides Bartr. ex March between years but was consistently high, and the percentage of females ovipositing when fed this host was usually highest. Some beetles fed Quercus palustris Muenchh. or Salix elaeagnos Scop, produced eggs; no reproduction occurred on Acer saccharinum L. Host species and environmental variables influenced the beetle's reproductive biology, but some of the observed differences may be explained by reduced foliage quality resulting from inducible plant defense or spacing pheromones produced by beetles at high densities.

Abstract The Rote snake-necked turtle (Chelodina mccordi Rhodin, 1994) or Kura-kura Leher Ular Rote is an endangered species endemic to Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara. It is listed as Critically Endangered by the IUCN. However, based on surveys in recent years, C. mccordi was presumed extinct in the wild. Ex-situ conservation is one alternative to conserve C. mccordi. The purpose of this paper is to describe the reproductive biology of the Rote snake-necked turtle in captivity. Three (one male and two female) C. mccordi were observed in Oelsonbai captivity, Kupang, from 2009 to 2020 to obtain data on the species’ reproductive biology. The first mating behaviour was observed when the turtles were six years old. Hatches occurred two or three times a year, with clutch size varied from five to twenty eggs. Egg hatchability was 75-100 percent, with an incubation period of 76 to 102 days. Female size when mature straight-line carapace length (SCL) 178 mm, carapace width 145 mm, and plastron length 142 mm. Male size straight-line carapace length (SCL) 190 mm, carapace width 150 mm, and plastron length 143 mm.

The hermaphrodite duct of pulmonate snails connects the ovotestis to the fertilization pouch. The duct is typically divided into three zones; aproximal duct which leaves the ovotestis, the middle duct (seminal vesicle) and the distal ovotestis duct. The seminal vesicle forms the major portion of the duct and is thought to store sperm prior to copulation. In addition the duct may also play a role in sperm maturation and degredation. Although the structure of the seminal vesicle has been described for a number of snails at the light microscope level there appear to be only two descriptions of the ultrastructure of this tissue. Clearly if the role of the hermaphrodite duct in the reproductive biology of pulmonatesis to be understood, knowledge of its fine structure is required.Hermaphrodite ducts, both containing and lacking sperm, of species of the terrestrial pulmonate genera Sphincterochila, Levantina, and Helix and the marine pulmonate genus Siphonaria were prepared for transmission electron microscopy by standard techniques.

Rattan on frequently attacked by the powder post beetle (Tellu, 2001). The prevention of dry powder attacks is done by preservation. The increasing resistant of rattan from insect attack can be done by an environmentally friendly preservative, the Galam wood vinegar. This research  aims to determine the most effective concentration of preservative that shows the lowest attacks level of D. Farb minutus powder. The rattan used is green rattan (Calamus sp.) The concentration of preservative that are used:10%, 40%, 70% and 100%. The testing of dry powder attack  used force feedback method. The effectiveness test parameters of wood vinegar to dry powder attacks  included degree of protection Dinoderus minutus Farb. powder,  reduction percentage of rattan weight and the mortality of dry powder Dinoderus sp for toxicological testing of wood vinegar. The test results showed that the degree of protection powder in rattan growing along with the increased concentration of preservatives. The higher the concentration of  wood vinegar, the smaller the reduction of rattan weight and the higher the mortality rate of dry powder.
