Abstract In view of the complex characteristics of nonlinearity and non-stableness of the zero-order current of each line after the single-phase ground fault of the distribution network, a distribution network fault selection method based on Sooty Tern Optimization Algorithm(STOA) and the combination of support vector machine is proposed. At first, the zero-sequence current before and after fault is obtained, then five kinds of IMFs including different components are obtained by ensemble empirical mode decomposition, and the energy entropy of the fault transient zero-sequence current is obtained by Hilbert transform, the results of training and testing are obtained by inputting the feature vector. The simulation results show that the accuracy of the proposed line selection model is 97.5%.

Single-phase ground fault line selection problem has never been satisfactorily resolved in small current neutral grounding system in china. According to such a situation and combining theoretical analysis and simulation research with reports published in literature, existing faulty line selection technologies are generalized, and working principles, application conditions and existing defects of these technologies are analyzed, meanwhile the feasible improvement of these technologies and the up-to-date research achievements, and deficiencies of applications in this field are summarized. Finally, the development trend of faulty line selection technology for small-current neutral grounding system is pointed out.

For the problem of single-phase ground fault line selection of small current grounding system, in this paper, according to the wavelet theory advantage processing capabilities of transient mutation signal ,line selection criterion based on wavelet transform modulus maximum principle of singularity detection is proposed . By analyzing the single-phase ground fault waveform of small current grounding system in the neutral point not effective grounding system, steady state and transient characteristics of fault occurs is obtained, building bus with three outlets of 10KV small current grounding system simulation model by using MATLAB software, and verifying the validity though a large number of simulation experiments on the method.
