Various basic image enhancement techniques of License Plate Recognition are discussed and simulated with MATLAB. Through a lot of experiments, an improved image enhancement method is proposed by combining gray-level transformation and median filtering. The method can efficiently avoid interfere and enhance the contrast of image and obtain satisfying effects.

The images are not always good enough to convey the proper information. The image may be very bright or very dark sometime or it may be low contrast or high contrast. Because of these reasons image enhancement plays important role in digital image processing. In this paper we proposed an image enhancement technique in which Gabor and median filtering is performed in wavelet domain and Adaptive Histogram Equalization is performed in spatial domain. Brightness and contrast are the two parameters used for analyzing the performance of the proposed method

Loss of image features are leaded by Regions with too bright or too dark of image with noise. An adaptive and nonlinear algorithm for color image enhancement is proposed in the paper. which consists of five stages: Converting color images to grayscale images; Threshold value is ascertained by HVS and position of noise is ascertained by method of Sliding Window; According to local characteristic of position of noise, median filtering is executed by weighted template; The following thing is that image is separated into apart; At last image is adaptively enhanced according to idea of Retinex and color of image is reverted. Experiments show that ability of de-noising can be effectively improved by the algorithm and contrast of image can be improved.

AbstractWe applied advanced image enhancement techniques to explore in detail the characteristics of the small-scale structures and/or the low contrast structures in several Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) observed by SOHO. We highlight here the results from our studies of the morphology and dynamical evolution of CME structures in the solar corona using two instruments on board SOHO: LASCO and EIT.
