Fetal movement is an important clinical indicator to assess fetus growth and development status in the uterus. In recent years, a noninvasive intelligent sensing fetal movement detection system that can monitor high-risk pregnancies at home has received a lot of attention in the field of wearable health monitoring. However, recovering fetal movement signals from a continuous low-amplitude background that is heavily contaminated with noise and recognizing real fetal movements is a challenging task. In this paper, fetal movement can be efficiently recognized by combining the strength of Kalman filtering, time and frequency domain and wavelet domain feature extraction, and hyperparameter tuned Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM) model. Firstly, the Kalman filtering (KF) algorithm is used to recover the fetal movement signal in a continuous low-amplitude background contaminated by noise. Secondly, the time domain, frequency domain, and wavelet domain (TFWD) features of the preprocessed fetal movement signal are extracted. Finally, the Bayesian Optimization algorithm (BOA) is used to optimize the LightGBM model to obtain the optimal hyperparameters. Through this, the accurate prediction and recognition of fetal movement are successfully achieved. In the performance analysis of the Zenodo fetal movement dataset, the proposed KF + TFWD + BOA-LGBM approach’s recognition accuracy and F1-Score reached 94.06% and 96.85%, respectively. Compared with 8 existing advanced methods for fetal movement signal recognition, the proposed method has better accuracy and robustness, indicating its potential medical application in wearable smart sensing systems for fetal prenatal health monitoring.

During the acquisition of a new digital image, noise may be introduced as a result of the production process. Image enhancement is used to alleviate problems caused by noise. In this work, the purpose is to propose, apply, and evaluate enhancement approaches to images by selecting suitable filters to produce improved quality and performance results. The new method proposed for image noise reduction as an enhancement process employs threshold and histogram equalization implemented in the wavelet domain. Different types of wavelet filters were tested to obtain the best results for the image noise reduction process. Also, the effect of canceling one or more of the high-frequency bands in the wavelet domain was tested. The mean square error and peak signal to noise ratio are used for measuring the improvement in image noise reduction. A comparison made with two related works shows the superiority of the methods proposed and implemented in this research. The proposed methods of applying the median filter before and after the histogram equalization methods produce improvement in performance and efficiency compared to the case of using discrete wavelet transform only, even with the cases of multiresolution discrete wavelet transform and the cancellation step.

Several processing methods have been proposed for estimating the real pattern of the temporal location and spatial map of the lightning strikes. However, due to the complexity of lightning signals, providing accurate lightning maps estimation remains a challenging task. This paper presents a cross-correlation wavelet-domain-based particle swarm optimization (CCWD-PSO) technique for an accurate and robust representation of lightning mapping. The CCWD method provides an initial estimate of the lightning map, while the PSO attempts to optimize the trajectory of the lightning map by finding the optimal sliding window of the cross-correlation. The technique was further enhanced through the introduction of a novel lightning event extraction method that enables faster processing of the lightning mapping. The CCWD-PSO method was validated and verified using three narrow bipolar events (NBEs) flashes. The observed results demonstrate that this technique offers high accuracy in representing the real lightning mapping with low estimation errors.

In real life, images are inevitably interfered by various noises during acquisition and transmission, resulting in a significant reduction in image quality. The process of solving this kind of problem is called image denoising. Image denoising is a basic problem in the field of computer vision and image processing, which is essential for subsequent image processing and applications. It can ensure that people can obtain more effective information of images more accurately. This paper mainly studies a new method of crop image denoising with improved SVD in wavelet domain. The algorithm used in this study firstly carried out a 3-layer wavelet transform on the crop noise image, leaving the low-frequency subimage unchanged; then, for the high-frequency subimages distributed in the horizontal, vertical, and diagonal directions, the improved adaptive SVD algorithm was used to filter the noise; finally perform wavelet coefficient reconstruction. To effectively test the performance of the algorithm, field crop images were taken as test images, and the denoising performance of the algorithm, SVD algorithm, and the improved SVD algorithm used in this study were compared, and the peak signal-to--to-noise ratio (PSNR) was introduced. Quantitative evaluation of the denoising results of several types of algorithms. The experimental data in this paper show that when the noise standard deviation is greater than 20, the enhanced experimental results clearly achieve higher PSNR and SSIM values than WNNM. The average peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) is about 0.1 dB higher, and the average SSIM is larger about 0.01. The results show that the algorithm used in this study is superior to the other two algorithms, which provides a more effective method for crop noise image processing.
