The reflection seismograph surveys which led to the discovery of Wasco oil field were started in 1934. Some additional work was done to outline the structure in 1935. Subsequent to discovery in 1938 a detailed reflection seismograph survey was made for the purposes of aiding development and securing type seismograph data.

abstract For the past twenty-four years, measurements have been made of continuing movement on an active thrust fault in the Buena Vista Hills oil field in Kern County, California. Data are presented which show the rate and accumulated ground movement normal to the strike of the fault. Maximum accumulated movement between pairs of control points has been 1.637 feet, corresponding to an average rate of 0.068 feet per year.
