In this article I suggest that an additional reading of the book of Esther sees that work as a subversive sequel to the Capable Wife lauded in Proverbs 31:10–31. Through a comparison of words taken from each of the Proverbs verses, I explain how the redacted version of Esther mines and undermines the earlier work, subtly making fun of such an idealized figure.

In this Voices Inside Schools essay, a veteran teacher shares her reflections on a classroom unit entitled "How Language Reveals Character." The goal of the unit is to help adolescents read and write critically through an exploration of literary characters' language. Beginning by drawing on adolescents' fascination with one another, Metzger first asks students to analyze the language of their peers as an entry point to thinking about how language and character may be connected. The unit then moves on to ask students to transfer their analytic skills to the world of fiction and how language reveals character in literary texts. Metzger focuses on life inside her classroom, how the unit is taught, how students respond, and how teachers can expand on the concepts of language and character through additional reading and writing activities.

Disaster mitigation learning in elementary schools is the knowledge that must be taught considering that Indonesia is a disaster-prone region. This research was aimed to design and develop KOASE comics that are appropriate to be used to understand disaster mitigation. The research method used was the 4D (Define, Design, Develop, dan Disseminate) model. The feasibility of the product assessed by expert validators was 51.13 with a fairly feasible category. The teacher’s response at the development stage obtained the score of 92.08 with a very good category and the students’ responses obtained a score of 85.87 with a very good category. Then it can be concluded that the development of KOASE comics is appropriate to be used as a medium for disaster mitigation learning. It is suggested for the next researcher is to develop comics that are more specific to one type of natural disaster so that they can explore the depth of essential material. For the teacher, this comic can be used as a source of additional reading and learning media in teaching disaster mitigation.
