The possibility of suppression of gyroscopic magnetization oscillations by increasing an effective in-plane anisotropy field is discussed. It is shown that the presence of biaxial anisotropy in real films with the effective field ranging from 10 to 70 Oe should not cause any difficulties at suppressing the oscillations.

Due to water molecules adsorption the reversible change of domains width and domain structure reconstruction in bismuth-doped ferrite-garnet thin films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy was observed. The change of domains width was 15% in saturated water vapor at room temperature. The decrease of domains width is explained by the reduction of effective perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant due to water molecules adsorption.

To calculate the torque acting on the magnetization vector during the process of 90° pulsed magnetization in real ferrite-garnet films in which, besides in-plane anisotropy, biaxial anisotropy is present, the method based on the analysis of the operating point trajectory is used. Analysis has shown that the shape of the time dependence of the torque Tφ in the time interval, within which the exciting of the magnetization oscillations occurs, is slightly dependent on the pulse front duration. As a result the magnetization oscillations (with a period of Tos ≅ 2 ns) can be observed at the pulse front duration τf ≥ 14 ns.

The article gives a literary review of the current state of research of ferrite-garnet films. The basic crystalline and magnetic characteristics of thin films of iron-yttrium garnet are considered. We analyzed the causes of the appearance of the labyrinth, stripe and cylindrical domain structure. It is shown that the domain structure of the yttrium iron garnet strongly depends on many parameters of the films, in particular on the thickness, structural perfection of the surface and the sample as a whole. The article reviews the most common methods of synthesis, ion implantation and post-growth treatment of ferrite-garnet films. The study of dependencies between the conditions of obtaining, the chemical composition, the posttreatment conditions, the defective structure and the magnetic properties of ferrite-garnet films have great practical value for obtaining films with predetermined properties.
