Abstract CARPENTER SILICON CORE IRON C is melted in an electric furnace to exacting chemical specifications. Also it is carefully controlled by tool-steel practice in rolling and annealing to produce a fine-grained magnetic core iron of uniform quality. It is especially well adapted for making components such as solenoid switches, armatures, pole pieces, relays and cores. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Fe-74. Producer or source: Carpenter.

Abstract Carpenter Silicon Core Iron "B" is melted in electric arc furnaces to exacting chemical specifications, and carefully controlled in rolling and annealing practices to produce a fine grained uniform quality magnetic core alloy. Silicon Core Iron "B" is not recommended for components which must be cold formed due to its high silicon content. This alloy was covered with 4 other silicon core irons in Fe-36, November, 1968. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on heat treating and machining. Filing Code: Fe-90. Producer or source: Carpenter.

Abstract CARPENTER BARTO is a cold-melt, grain-controlled, electric-furnace chromium-nickel tool steel. It was developed for applications requiring extreme toughness. Barto's extreme toughness is developed at the expense of some wear resistance; however, it will harden to Rockwell C 55/56. Typical applications are clutch parts and expander punches. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-444. Producer or source: Carpenter.
