This paper is concerned with the co-existence of different synchronization types for fractional-order discrete-time chaotic systems with different dimensions. In particular, we show that through appropriate nonlinear control, projective synchronization (PS), full state hybrid projective synchronization (FSHPS), and generalized synchronization (GS) can be achieved simultaneously. A second nonlinear control scheme is developed whereby inverse full state hybrid projective synchronization (IFSHPS) and inverse generalized synchronization (IGS) are shown to co-exist. Numerical examples are presented to confirm the findings.

Over the last couple of decades, many methods for synchronizing chaotic systems have been proposed with communications applications in view. Yet their performance has proved disappointing in face of the nonideal character of usual channels linking transmitter and receiver, that is, due to both noise and signal propagation distortion. Here we consider a discrete-time master-slave system that synchronizes despite channel bandwidth limitations and an allied communication system. Synchronization is achieved introducing a digital filter that limits the spectral content of the feedback loop responsible for producing the transmitted signal.

Anti-synchronization of two different chaotic systems is investigated. On the basis of Lyapunov theory, adaptive control scheme is proposed when system parameters are unknown, sufficient conditions for the stability of the error dynamics are derived, where the controllers are designed using the sum of the state variables in chaotic systems. Numerical simulations are performed for the Chen and Lu systems to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
