The face is one of the media to identify someone, a human face has a very high level of variability. Many methods have been introduced by researchers and scientists in recognizing one's face, one of the methods introduced is the Feature Extraction of Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ). GLCM feature extraction is used for data extraction/learning process whereas a data analysis process (face recognition, cropping and storing data) the LVQ method is used for the data training process where the data that has been processed in GLCM feature extraction which still has large dimensions are processed to be smaller dimensions. So this test uses data of 190 photos and gets a match of 90%, the authors conclude that the GLCM feature extraction and LVQ method can very well recognize faces contained in the database.

Over past few years, face recognition technology plays an important function in the development of biometric identifier with less time consuming and computational overhead. Many researchers were put their effort to develop face recognition algorithm involves three distinct steps such as detection, unique faceprint creation and finally verification. Traditional Local binary pattern based face recognition system slow down the recognition speed, high computational complexity and does not give the directional data of the picture. In order to overcome the above limitation, a novel face recognition system is proposed by employing the advantage of Directional Binary Code (DBC) feature extraction method. The face images features are extracted from DBC are generally smoother than other feature extraction methods. The images with blur creation, pose changes, and illumination is applied and stored in the database. For blur creation various filters such as Average filter, Gaussian filter and Motion filter are used. By using Directional Binary Code method, the face is detected and extracted. Then the same algorithm is used for input images and with help of Multi-SVM classifier multiple images in the database is compared and shows the matched images. Finally, simulation result shows the implemented results in term of its recognition speed and computation complexity.

With the safety awareness strengthened, identification authentication technology has been increasingly concerned. Face recognition is attractive in pattern recognition and artificial intelligence field, and face feature extraction is a very important part in face recognition. This paper first introduced preprocessing of face images, PCA and ICA algorithm. Considering PCA and ICA their respective strengths and weaknesses, then a novel face feature extraction method based on PCA and ICA is proposed. The NN classifier is select to face classification and recognition on the ORL face database. From the actual requirements, the paper analyses hardware platforms based on DM642, and finally use tool CCS software to optimize program and implementation base on DM642 to meet the real-time requirements. Experiments indicated that the modified method is superior to PCA and ICA algorithm.

To address the problem that the dimension of the feature vector extracted by Local Binary Pattern (LBP) for face recognition is too high and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) extract features are not the best classification features, an efficient feature extraction method using LBP, PCA and Maximum scatter difference (MSD) has been introduced in this paper. The original face image is firstly divided into sub-images, then the LBP operator is applied to extract the histogram feature. and the feature dimensions are further reduced by using PCA. Finally,MSD is performed on the reduced PCA-based feature. The experimental results on ORL and Yale database demonstrate that the proposed method can classify more effectively and can get higher recognition rate than the traditional recognition methods.

Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) is an important feature extraction method. This paper proposes an improved linear discriminant analysis method, which redefines the within-class scatter matrix and introduces the normalized parameter to control the bias and variance of eigenvalues. In addition, it makes the between-class scatter matrix to weight and avoids the overlapping of neighboring class samples. Some experiments for the improved algorithm presented by us are performed on the ORL, FERET and YALE face databases, and it is compared with other commonly used methods. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is the effective.
