Compared with single-band remote sensing images, multispectral images can obtain information on the same target in different bands. By combining the characteristics of each band, we can obtain clearer enhanced images; therefore, we propose a multispectral image enhancement method based on the improved dark channel prior (IDCP) and bilateral fractional differential (BFD) model to make full use of the multiband information. First, the original multispectral image is inverted to meet the prior conditions of dark channel theory. Second, according to the characteristics of multiple bands, the dark channel algorithm is improved. The RGB channels are extended to multiple channels, and the spatial domain fractional differential mask is used to optimize the transmittance estimation to make it more consistent with the dark channel hypothesis. Then, we propose a bilateral fractional differentiation algorithm that enhances the edge details of an image through the fractional differential in the spatial domain and intensity domain. Finally, we implement the inversion operation to obtain the final enhanced image. We apply the proposed IDCP_BFD method to a multispectral dataset and conduct sufficient experiments. The experimental results show the superiority of the proposed method over relative comparison methods.

For image enhancement method based on the fractional order differential, it is difficult to artificially give the optimal order of the fractional differential which can make the image enhancement effect better, and it is hard to ensure the enhancement of the target object while preserving the information of background pixels if the entire image is filtered by a fixed differential order. In order to solve this problem, the image is segmented into the object area and the background area according to the Otsu threshold algorithm based on Markov Random Field firstly. On the basis of the principle of the fractional differential for image enhancement, a piecewise function is established by combining with the different characteristics of pixels in each area, then the best order of fractional differential in the two areas can be determined adaptively. Thus, a novel adaptive fractional order differential algorithm for image enhancement on the basis of segmentation is put forward. Several fog-degraded traffic images are selected for experiments and processed by three other algorithms. The results of comparison exhibit the superiority of our algorithm.

Abstract Concerning to the problem in the distortion of color and the low contrast of underwater image, the image enhancement method in the underwater environment based on color correction and dark channel prior was proposed. When dealing with the color bias problem, the blue channel standard ratio is firstly calculated based on the blue channel, and the red and green channels of the underwater image are compensated to remove the blue and green background colors of the underwater image. In light of the problem in the low contrast of image in underwater environment, the dark channel prior (DCP) method based on the super pixel was used to enhance the corrected underwater image. Finally, the underwater object detection dataset images are tested, and the algorithm proposed in terms of the quality is made the comparison with six advanced image enhancement method in underwater environment. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm earned the highest score in underwater quality evaluation index (UIQM) compared with the above algorithm.

The main reason for the degradation of the underwater image is the light absorption and scattering. The images are captured in the underwater environment often have some problems such as loss of image information, low contrast, and color distortion. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes an image enhancement method for the underwater environment. With the help of the underwater imaging model and dark channel prior theory, a new idea of adding transmission correction and color compensation to G and B color channels is proposed. Experimental results show that, compared with the traditional methods, this method has a better effect on the underwater image with less color deviation.

Abstract All for underwater images, there are some drawbacks, such as low definition, serious color bias, dark brightness, etc. On the basis of in-depth analysis of common image enhancement algorithms, This paper uses the improved dark channel priority algorithm to enhance the underwater image, Improving the contrast of underwater images and color correction of underwater images. Color correction is added based on dark channel prior algorithm; Make the image look more even, higher contrast, more acceptable. The improved algorithm model has a higher transfer rate; PSNR is more balanced and has better contrast to meet the requirements of underwater image observation.

This chapter describes a novel method to enhance degraded nighttime images by dehazing and color correction method. In the first part of this chapter, the authors focus on filtering process for low illumination images. Secondly, they propose an efficient dehazing model for removing haziness Thirdly, a color correction method proposed for color consistency approach. Removing nighttime haze technique is an important and necessary procedure to avoid ill-condition visibility of human eyes. Scattering and color distortion are two major problems of distortion in case of hazy image. To increase the visibility of the scene, the authors compute the preprocessing using WLS filter. Then the airlight component for the non-uniform illumination presents in nighttime scenes is improved by using a modified well-known dark-channel prior algorithm for removing nighttime haze, and then it uses α-automatic color equalization as post-processing for color correction over the entire image for getting a better enhanced output image free from haze with improved color constancy.
