Common rabbit or European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is one of the mammals that belongs to the order Lagomorph. The study of uropoetic organs in adult male common rabbit included the anatomical and histological description at the light microscope level by using Hematoxyline and Eosine stain methods. The aims of this study was to determine the anatomical and histological featu res of male Oryctolagus cuniculus. Uropoetic organs of adult male common rabbit consists of four organs that is kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. The result showed that Oryctolagus cuniculus have a bean-shaped kidney. The length of the right kidney is 3,4 cm and the width is 1,9 cm while the length of the left kidney is 3,2 cm and the width is 1,8 cm. The histological study showed that common rabbit kidne y consists of glomerulus, Bowman’s capsule, proximal tubules, distal tubules, and collecting ducts.

ZusammenfassungEin 3,5 Jahre altes, männlich-kastriertes Zwergkaninchen wurde mit einer vorberichtlich schnell wachsenden Umfangsvermehrung in der Gingiva des Oberkiefers vorgestellt. Die Neubildung wurde vollständig chirurgisch exzidiert. Histopathologisch ließ sich ein expansiv wachsendes, multilobuläres, teils zystisches, peripheres keratinisierendes Ameloblastom nachweisen. Die immunhistologische Phänotypisierung der Tumorzellen ergab eine zytoplasmatische Markierung mit verschiedenen Panzytokeratin-Antikörpern. Graduell variabel wurden die Zytokeratine 5/6, 7, 10 und 14 exprimiert. Zytokeratin 20 war nicht nachweisbar. Vimentin wurde im Zytoplasma von mesenchymalen Zellen des Stromas exprimiert. Außerdem wurde im Kern von ca. 10% der Tumorzellen das Protein des Tumorsuppressorgens p53 und in ca. 5% der Proliferationsmarker Ki67 festgestellt. Odontogene Tumoren sollten bei Kaninchen mit Umfangsvermehrungen am Kiefer differenzialdiagnostisch berücksichtigt werden.

Deep cervical fascia forms a connective tissue sheath around the thyroid gland. Delicate trabeculae and septa penetrate the gland indistinctly dividing the gland into lobes and lobules which in turn composed of follicles.1,2,3 These follicles are structural units of thyroid gland which varies greatly in size and shape.4 The number of follicles varies in different age groups. The study was carried out to see the percentage of area occupied by follicles in the stained section of thyroid glands in different age groups. The collected samples were grouped as A (3.5 – 20yrs), B (21- 40yrs) & C (41 – 78yrs).
