A floodplain of the Lužnice river at the Czech-Austrian border is protected by the Krabonošská niva Nature Reserve (Southern Bohemia, Czech Republic). This floodplain has a relatively natural character and, in addition to the Lužnice river, there is a high diversity of habitats at various stages of succession such as oxbows, pools and temporary wetlands. Altogether 20 species were found at 15 sites studied in 2021. Common and widespread gastropods Lymnaea stagnalis, Segmentina nitida and Planorbarius corneus belonged among the most often recorded species. Endangered Pisidium globulare was found at two sites, and only one non-native species Physa acuta was recorded. Molluscan assemblages are very similar to the assemblages of the neighboring Horní Lužnice Nature Reserve.

The Lužnice River and its floodplain are protected in the Horní Lužnice Nature Reserve (Southern Bohemia, Czech Republic). The floodplain has a relatively natural character. Altogether 21 aquatic mollusc species were found at 40 sites. Lymnaea stagnalis, Physa fontinalis, Segmentina nitida and Planorbarius corneus belonged among the most often recorded species. Endangered Pisidium globulare was found. Non-native molluscs were not recorded. Only minimal changes were documented after the first research of this reserve, which was done more than 10 years ago.

Aquatic malacofauna of the Hrubý Jeseník Mountains, the Rychlebské hory Mountains, the Zlatohorská vrchovina Highlands and the Žulovská pahorkatina Highlands (Northern Moravia, Czech Republic) was investigated in 2000, 2001 and 2003. Altogether 26 species (17 gastropods, 9 bivalves) were found at 56 localities. Species Galba truncatula, Radix peregra s.str., Ancylus fluviatilis and P. casertanum, which often inhabit springs and smaller brooks, belong to the most common molluscs in this territory. Ponds and different water bodies originated by mining enrich aquatic malacofauna of this area by e.g., Lymnaea stagnalis, Gyraulus albus, G. crista, Hippeutis complanatus, Anodonta anatina or Musculium lacustre. The finding of Ferrissia clessiniana is the first record of this non-native mollusc in the territory of Northern Moravia. Water bodies in the Vidnavské mokřiny Wetlands Nature Reserve on the Czech-Poland frontier are inhabited by molluscan community with many species living in lowlands and this community is different in comparison with molluscan communities of the other investigated localities.

Die Pflanzennahrung allein ist für das Gedeihen von Physa acuta Drap. nicht ausreichend; auch diese Art bedarf des tierischen Eiweißes, genau wie Lymnaea stagnalis L., Stagnicola palustris O. F. Müller, Radix auricularia L., Radix ovata Drap. und Viriparus viviparus L., für die dies bereits nachgewiesen wurde.

ABSTRACT In Brazil, specifically in São Paulo State, there are guidelines based on the high diversity of tropical forests that instructs the restoration projects in the state (current SMA 32/2014). The main goal of this study was verify the importance and effectiveness of the high diversity of arboreal species originated from a reforestation, and its influence in a woody regenerating composition. We developed a phytosociologic study in a woody regenerating stratum of a nine year old reforestation at a Private Reserve of Natural Heritage (RPPN), in Mogi-Guaçu, São Paulo State. All specimens with height > 30 cm and Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) < 5 cm were evaluated. The woody regenerating diversity was smaller than the overstory diversity and the species composition was similar to the overstory. The Simpson index (1-D) was 0.85, Shannon index (H') was 2.46 and the Pielou index (J') was 0.60. The zoochoric dispersion syndrome was major among the species. Our results suggest that the use of high diversity of native seedlings in a reforestation leads to high diversity of species in woody regeneration stratum, after one decade of planting.

AbstractA total of eight species of furcocercous cercariae of four families (Strigeidae, Diplostomidae, Schistosomatidae and Sanguinicolidae), were found in 2005 in Lake Konnevesi in Central Finland in four snail species (Valvata macrostoma, Lymnaea stagnalis, Bathyomphalus contortus and Planorbarius corneus). Australapatemon burti (Miller, 1923), Australapatemon sp., Cotylurus brevis Dubois et Rausch, 1950, Cercaria spinulosa Ginetsinskaya, 1959 and Sanguinicola sp. are new species records for Finland. Ichthyocotylurus variegatus (Creplin, 1825) and Bilharziella polonica (Kowalewski, 1895) were first recorded as cercariae in Finland. The most common cercariae were A. burti (prevalence 13.3%) and Diplostomum pseudospathaceum Niewiadomska, 1984 (10.0%). Our study represents the first host record of Valvata macrostoma for larval stages of Australapatemon sp. and Sanguinicola sp.

The geoecological concept of the alluvial landscape describes the variability and consecutive character of alluvial ecotopes and biocenoses, which are interrelated in terms of their homeorhetic development, in their dynamic ecological stability. This article deals with application of this landscape concept in the frame of creation of nature reserve as core zone of the Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Landscape Area (Czech Republic). Complex protection of the whole floodplain ecosystem, which comprised all components of the fluvial succession series of alluvial habitats, was proposed on the basis of determination of geomorphological type of the river system. Analyses of the floodplain forest stands status within the study area were performed using methods that are normally used in the elaboration of management plans of protected areas within forest land on the basis of data from Forest Management Plan. The area of the proposed NNR was created by the overlay of the special map layers using method gap-analysis in the frame of GIS.
