Abstract The features of collinear acousto - optical filtration of quasi - diffractive Bessel light beams of o- and e-type in uniaxial crystals are investigated. Using the method of overlap integrals, an expression is found for the diffraction efficiency depending on the parameters of the acousto-optical interaction, as well as on the values of the overlap integrals. It is shown that for the zero-order mode of a Bessel light beam for a lithium niobate crystal under conditions of transverse phase synchronism and in the optical spectrum range of 0.4-0.7 μm, the filter bandwidth of ∼0.2 nm is achievable; with an increase in the order of the mode m≥1, the increase in the bandwidth is insignificant and is ∼0.23 -0.24 nm.

The properties of X-ray vacuum-gap waveguides (WGs) with additional periodic structure on one of the reflecting walls are studied. Theoretical considerations, numerical simulations and experimental results confirm that the periodic structure imposes additional conditions on efficient propagation of the electromagnetic field along the WGs. The transmission is maximum for guided modes that possess sufficient phase synchronism with the periodic structure (here called `super-resonances'). The field inside the WGs is essentially given at low incidence angle by the fundamental mode strongly coupled with the corresponding phased-matched mode. Both the simulated and the experimental diffraction patterns show in the far field that propagation takes place essentially only for low incidence angles, confirming the mode filtering properties of the structured X-ray waveguides.

Second-harmonic generation of an extraordinary wave is investigated in the domain of phase synchronism with the pump wave. The conversion efficiency parameter is calculated for various values of the magnetic field, electron plasma density, angle of propagation and slab thickness.
