Further records of the opossum shrimp Neognathophausia ingens (Dorhn, 1870) (Peracarida: Lophogastrida: Gnathophausiidae) from Brazil

Neognathophausia ingens (Dohrn, 1870) is a bathypelagic crustacean distributed worldwide. In the western Atlantic it has been recorded off the La Plata region, Argentina, and off the coast of Brazil, from the state of Bahia to Rio de Janeiro. We provide new records of N. ingens from the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, about 1188 km south of its previous distribution limit off Brazil, filling the gap between the central West Atlantic and Argentina. Five specimens were analyzed and drawings for all body regions and appendages are presented. Mandible, thoracopods 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8 and pleopods are illustrated and described for the first time. An updated synonym list and a distribution map for this species in Brazil are provided.

Nomenclatural notes in Anathallis microphyta (Pleurothallidinae, Orchidaceae)

In the course of preparing a generic treatment of the genus Anathallis for Flora do Paraná, southern Brazil, historical material and literature of several taxa related to Anathallis microphyta have been studied and their morphologies and nomenclature elucidated. Three species and one variety are proposed as synonyms: Anathallis longiglossa, A. microgemma, A. paranaensis and A. microphyta var. missionum. Illustrations, an updated synonym list, and taxonomic discussions are also provided.

Designation of a neotype for Parastacus nicoleti (Philippi, 1882) (Crustacea: Decapoda: Parastacidae)

The type specimen of Parastacus nicoleti (Philippi, 1882) was not designated and the material used for the description has never been found. We designate herein the neotype of P. nicoleti based on the examination of specimens from the type locality deposited in the Museo Nacional de Historia Natural of Chile previously analyzed by Bahamonde (1958), who confirmed the identity and validated the species. To improve the species description we included new drawings and provide additional morphological characters. A synonym list and updated distribution map of this species are also provided.

Nomenclatural notes on Stelis ciliaris (Pleurothallidinae, Orchidaceae)

In the course of preparing a generic treatment of the genus Stelis for Flora do Paraná, southern Brazil, historical material and literature of several taxa related to Stelis ciliaris have been studied and their morphologies and nomenclature elucidated. Stelis leinigii, S. mystax-felis, and Stelis uhlii are herein proposed as new synonyms for Stelis ciliaris. A lectoptype is selected for Stelis jimenezii and a brief nomenclatural note on Stelis confusa is provided. Illustrations, updated synonym list, and taxonomic discussions are also presented for Stelis ciliaris.
