The present note gives information on outdoor mass production of Diatoms Algae for feeding différents species of shrimp of the Genus Penaeus.

ANOMALIA EM GÔNADAS DE PARATI Mugil curema VALENCIENNES, 1836. (PISCES - MIGILIDAE)

Aberrant gonadal development was observed in two females of Mugil curema Valenciennes, 1836 (Mugilidae) collected in Paranaguá Bay (Paraná - Brasil). Collections were taken from november of 1983 to february of 1985, comprising a total of 1020 individuals. This work describes and illustrates the observed malformation.

NEPHTYIDAE (ANNELIDA; POLYCHAETA) DO LITORAL DO ESTADO DO PARANÁ (BRASIL)

Nephtyidae (Annelida; Polychaeta) from the Paraná coast (Brazil)The Nephtyidae from the Paraná coast (SE Brazil) are represented by 7 species in 3 genera, namely Nephtys acrochaeta, N. squamosa, N. fluviatilis, N. simoni, Inermonephtys palpata, Aglaophamus juvenalis and Aglaophamus uruguayi. Inermonephtys palpata, previously known from Australia, is recorded for the first time in Atlantic waters. Nephtys simoni is also a new record to the Brazilian coast. A key and descriptions, besides some comments on geographical distribution, are provided for all species examined.

MATURAÇÃO DO Penaeus paulensis

This work describes the maturation process of females of Penaeus paulensis in the laboratory aiming the production of post-larvae in commercial scale. The applied methodology is based on induced spawning, feeding behaviour of adults shrimps in natural conditions and photoperiodism. Part of the post-larvae and juvenales produced by the Centro de Biologia Marinha is being released in the Bay of Paranaguá to attend a repopulation program, part is being distributed to private cultivators of Paranaguá and others states of our Country.

CONSIDERAÇÕES SOBRE O EFEITO DA SALINIDADE NO DESENVOLVIMENTO DE JUVENIS DE EU6BWES BRASILIANUS (CUVIER, 1830) (PISCESGERREIDAE), EM LABORATÓRIO.

EFFECT OF SALINITY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF JUVENILES OF Eugerres brasilianus (Cuvier, 1830) (PISCES-GERREIDAE). Juveniles of Eugerres brasilianus (L< = 8,9 — 9,1cm) were used in bio-assays in order to assess the effect of different salinities (0, 10, 20, 26, 30 and 40%c) upon their development. The rate of food consumption, growth rate and weight increase were analyzed during 6 months. Preferential salinities were, in increasing order: 0, 30, 26, 20 and 10%e>. All individuals died within 48 hours when exposed to a salinity of 40%e.Foram realizados bio-ensaios com exemplares da caratinga Eugerres brasilianus em fase juvenil (L* = 8,9 — 9,1cm), visando determinar os padrões preferenciais de salinidade da espécie neste estádio de desenvolvimento. Utilizou-se como meio de determinação, a taxa de consumo de alimento ao longo dos 6 meses de experimento e as diferenças de comprimento e peso médios totais dos exemplares de cada aquário, entre as fases inicial e final do trabalho. Dentre as salinidades testadas, apenas 40%c é letal e as salinidades preferenciais são, em ordem crescente de aceitação, 0, 30, 26, 20 e 10%o.

LAONICE BRANCHIATA, A NEW SPECIES OF SPIONIDAE (ANNELIDA; POLYCHAETA) FROM THE SOUTHEASTERN BRAZILIAN COAST

Laonice branchiata, a new spionid polychaete, is described based on material collected in shallow waters of estuarine and shelf environments off the States of Paraná, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro (SE Brazil).(Laonice branchiata, uma nova espécie de Spionidae da costa sudeste brasileira). Laonice branchiata, uma nova espécie de poliqueta da família Spionidae, é descrita a partir de material coletado em ambientes estuarinos e de plataforma ao longo dos estados do Paraná, São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro (costa sudestedo Brasil).
