Abstract Attempts to prepare block or graft copolymers of isobutylene rubbers by radiation in the presence of methyl methacrylate gave low yields of copolymer with only 20 per cent of the rubber entering into the copolymer. The remainder of the rubber is degraded during the process. A single experiment describes the graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate with ethylene propylene rubber in which 45 per cent of the rubber is copolymerized.
