We calculate the decay width for [Formula: see text] in the framework of a non-relativistic quark (NRQ) model of heavy baryons where the light quarks play the role of spectators. Our calculation does not make an explicit use of the heavy quark symmetry. The branching ratio for the above process as calculated here agrees reasonably well with the experimental value.

We propose a simple model to describe the semileptonic weak decays among heavy baryons in the heavy quark limit in a unified way. The current matrix elements of the heavy baryons, with spin-0 light diquark, are evaluated to give the ω-dependence of the form factors. The numerical values are also calculated and the branching ratio for [Formula: see text] is consequently obtained in the range (4.9–15.3)%.
