Mengingat wilayah Indonesia yang letaknya berada di garis khatulistiwa, sumber energi surya yang diterima Indonesia sangat melimpah. Pemanfaatan yang paling sederhana adalah menjadikan energi surya sebagai sumber panas pada proses pemanasan air. Teknologi kolektor surya merupakan salah satu sarana untuk mengambil panas matahari. Aneka jenis kolektor surya memiliki kinerja yang bervariasi. Kemampuan penyerapan panas yang tinggi dapat diperoleh dari kolektor surya berjenis evacuated tube collector yang mempunyai waktu pemanasan air awal lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan jenis flat plate collector. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan efisiensi kolektor surya tabung vakum terhadap solar water heater sederhana. Metode pengujian dilakukan dengan cara memasukan debit air yang sama pada setiap pengujian. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa solar water heater tabung vakum dengan fluida kerja etanol memberikan efisiensi tertinggi sebesar 44.5% dan efisiensi terendah sebesar 26.4%. Temperatur air output tertinggi mencapai 35,4°C.

A unique SFSWH system is proposed for domestic hot water in Kovilpatti, TamilNadu, 9° 10′N 77°52′E. This SFSWH system is successfully simulated in TRNSYS Software and the results are clarified with the similarities of parallel flow solar water heater. Firstly, a complete model of spiral flow flat plate collector is formulated in TRNSYS software and taking into an account of heat transfer, outlet temperature and efficiency which are theoretically compared with parallel flow flat plate collector by means of TRNSYS simulation program. The SFSWH system performs a function with the assist of NASA surface Meteorology and solar energy year readings and with the assist of ISRO’s solar calculator application relative to Kovilpatti, Tamilnadu, India. To prove the accuracy of TRNSYS model of the SFSWH, an experimental setup is done at kovilpatti and required results were obtained under kovilpatti weather conditions. The validation of this SFSWH TRNSYS model simulation program is completed by checking the similarities between the predicted results from software with original results. This SFSWH TRNSYS model result shows the SFSWH is functioned more effectively compared with conventional parallel flow water heater. Thus TRNSYS model is reliable and which alternates the experimentation.

Difficulty in collecting conventional energy sources as well as their economic benefits including saving of time ,money, fertilizer of higher nutrient value, availability of waste easy and comfortable cooking, health benefits including the reduction diseases and environmental benefits such as saving of forest, clear surrounding were the main motivational factors for this research. However, climate temperatures in areas are too low to enable enough biogas production in small unheated digesters to meet the energy requirements of the institute, so the objectives of were to overcome the problem of energy by solar assisted with the hot water storage tank. In this research mathematical modeling of the solar water heater was designed and the analysis of heat transfer coefficient (losses) through the flat plate collector was done and the techniques that used to reduce these losses also mentioned. From the simulation results; the effect of mesh type on flat plate collector, temperature rise, and pressure drop were characterized including flow type in the laminar and turbulent using CFD approach. The FPC was needed for the preparation of the hot water for the heating of the waste food for the selected fixed dome digester with 2m2 was designed. The effect of water mass flow rate 0.01-0.05kg/s on flat plate collector, temperature rise, pressure drop, and velocity was characterized including the variation of flow types intensity using CFD approach. The optimal temperature to this process was 37 °C.The results obtained have been validated with analytical results

The analysis of thermal performance of the flat-plate collector includes parameters such as solar intensity, ambient temperature and configuration of flat-plate collectors etc. A Solar Water Heater are devices which are provides hot water for bathing, washing, cleaning, etc. using of solar energy. It is generally installed where sunlight are available. The solar energy is the most capable of the alternative energy sources. Solar energy is considered an attractive source of renewable energy that can be used for water hearing in both homes and industry.
