Child malnutrition is still a public health problem in Côte d'Ivoire, mainly due to poor feeding practice linked to the low nutritional value of the staple foods used for child nutrition. However, the introduction of tigernut, proteins and lipids rich tuber, in the dietary habits of these children could constitute an interesting nutritional alternative to solve this problem. The objective of this work was to valorize the tigernut-based porridges for their use as complementary food in the diet of weaning children. To this end, physicochemical and organoleptic characteristics of four formulations AB1, AB4, RB2 and SB3 were studied. The atadjon formulations, especially AB1, presented the highest density in energy (95.70 Kcal/100g), protein (5.37 %), lipids (3.8 %) and the lowest contents in anti-nutrients with 2.17% in fiber, 36.6% in oxalates, 65.54% in tannin and 0% in phytates, contrary to the rice (RB2) and tigernut (SB3) control porridges. In addition, the atadjon formulations AB4 and AB1 were preferred to the control because of their sweet taste, tigernut flavor, brown color and flowability according to PCA analysis. Thus, this study indicates that these traditionally prepared porridges could be suitable for children receiving an average level of breastfeeding and three meals per day.

Lipases constitute as top three most important group of enzymes along with  carbohydrases and proteases, and are widely used in various industries. In particular, lipase that perform high activity at low temperatures, or referred as cold adapted lipase (CLPs) considered as attractive catalyst due to its activity at low temperature. This unique feature is the main advantage of cold adapted lipase utilization because it requires a low energy source that is correlated with lower production costs and energy. In addition, reactions occur in cold temperatures may result in better product quality. The purpose of this research was to perform screening and characterization of bacterial cold adapted lipase from seafood cold storage. Among 53 isolates, Kr_16_30, TI_37_14 and Kr_16_28 showed the highest activity with 4.12 U/mL; 3.87 U/mL and 3.21 U/mL, respectively. Isolates Kr_16_30 seemed to be typical cold adapted lipase with optimum temperature at 20°C and pH 7. Isolates Kr_16_28 performed highest lipolytic activity at 30°C while TI_37_14 suspected to be similar to typical mesophilic lipase with optimum temperature at 40°C. Species identification based on 16s rRDA sequencing revealed that isolates Kr_16 30 and Kr_16 28 are belong to genus Pseudomonas and Bacillus, repectively.

This paper focused on comparative performance of GARCH models, ascertaining the best model fit, estimating the parameters and making prediction from optimal model. The study used UBA daily stock exchange prices sourced from the official websites of www.investing.com,on the daily basis of the Nigeria stock exchange rate over a period of ten years from 06/06/2012 – 04/06/2021. Five GARCH models (SGARCH, GJRGARCH or TGARCH, EGARCH, APGARCH and IGARCH) were fitted to the secondary data set of the Nigerian Stock exchange market for the period of June 2012- June 2021 and the results of the findings were obtained. The AIC results were SGARCH (1,1) (-6.1784), GJRGARCH (1,1) (-6.1778), EGARCH (1,1) (-6.1714) , APGARCH (1,1) (-6.1245) and IGARCH(1,1)  with the value of AIC -6.1793. The EGARCH (1, 1) was found to be the optimal model with AIC value of -6.1714.   The further findings indicated volatility clustering and leverage effect. The result of the analysis equally showed parameter estimates of the EGARCH (1,1) model and all the parameters were significant including mean and alpha. Prediction using the optimal model was made with an initial out of sample of 200 and n ahead of 200 with predicted values within the 95% confidence interval resulting there is no sign of volatility and clustering.  Based on the findings of the study, other time series packages should be compared with GARCH models, data should be making available for easy access and investors should be encouraged to invest in United Bank for Africa (UBA, Nigeria).

The main challenge of agriculture is to ensure food security in line with yield increases and minimize environmental costs due to complex interactions between social, economic, and ecological factors. Here we review to identify the impacts of socio-economic factors on crop production efficiency between China and Ethiopia. To set the economic reform and improve the grain yields in rural China, a series of policies on land reforms from communal systems to tax cancelation and subsidies have been implemented. Similar to China, Ethiopia has also experienced different types of land reform from landlord and peasant structure to land as the common property of nations, nationalities, and peoples of Ethiopia. The Gross Domestic Products per capita trends which represent the mean standard of leaving of residents in a country show almost similar growth in the 1980s while later significant variation was achieved between the two countries. It is suggested that to meet food security and increase agricultural efficiency in Ethiopia better infrastructure development that meets socio-economic demands should be prioritized while in China policies to reduce fertilizer inputs are highly recommended to minimize the environmental costs due to high agricultural inputs for sustainable agriculture growth.
