Digital Watermarking is a technology, to facilitate the authentication, copyright protection and Security of digital media. The objective of developing a robust watermarking technique is to incorporate the maximum possible robustness without compromising with the transparency. Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) using Firefly Algorithm provides this objective of an optimal robust watermarking technique. Multiple scaling factors are used to embed the watermark image into the host by multiplying these scaling factors with the Singular Values (SV) of the host image. Firefly Algorithm is used to optimize the modified host image to achieve the highest possible robustness and transparency. This approach can significantly increase the quality of watermarked image and provide more robustness to the embedded watermark against various attacks such as noise, geometric attacks, filtering attacks etc.

In this paper, we explore the advantages of a fractional calculus based watermarking system for detecting Gaussian watermarks. To reach this goal, we selected a typical watermarking scheme and replaced the detection equation set by another set of equations derived from fractional calculus principles; then, we carried out a statistical assessment of the performance of both schemes by analyzing the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve and the False Positive Percentage (FPP) when they are used to detect Gaussian watermarks. The results show that the ROC of a fractional equation based scheme has 48.3% more Area Under the Curve (AUC) and a False Positives Percentage median of 0.2% whilst the selected typical watermarking scheme has 3%. In addition, the experimental results suggest that the target applications of fractional schemes for detecting Gaussian watermarks are as a semi-fragile image watermarking systems robust to Gaussian noise.

The time-domain energy message conveyed by vibration signals of different gear fault are different, so a method based on local mean decomposition (LMD) and variable predictive model-based class discriminate (VPMCD) is proposed to diagnose gear fault model. The vibration signal of gear which is the research object in this paper is decomposed into a series of product functions (PF) by LMD method. Then a further analysis is to select the PF components which contain main fault information of gear, the energy feature parameters of the selected PF components are used to form a fault feature vector. The variable predictive model-based class discriminate is a new multivariate classification approach for pattern recognition, through taking fully advantages of the fault feature vector. Finally, gear fault diagnosis is distinguished into normal state, inner race fault and outer race fault. The results show that LMD method can decompose a complex non-stationary signal into a number of PF components whose frequency is from high to low. And the method based on LMD and VPMCD has a high fault recognition function by analyzing the fault feature vector of PF.
