ABSTRACT Whole spine magnetic resonance imaging screening is now mandatory before scoliosis correction surgery. Craniovertebral junction, such as Chiari malformation is tackled earlier as a staged procedure before the scoliosis procedure whereas tethering and diastematomyelia can be undertaken at the same time as the scoliosis correction.
