Multiobjective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (MOEA/D) and an improved non-dominating sorting multiobjective genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) is two well known multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) in the field of evolutionary computation. This paper mainly reviews their hybrid versions and some other algorithms which are developed for solving multiobjective optimization problems (MOPs. The mathematical formulation of a MOP and some basic definitions for tackling MOPs, including Pareto optimality, Pareto optimal set (PS), Pareto front (PF) are provided in Section 1. Section 2 presents a brief introduction to hybrid MOEAs. The authors present literature review in subsections. Subsection 2.1 provides memetic multiobjective evolutionary algorithms. Subsection 2.2 presents the hybrid versions of well-known Pareto dominance based MOEAs. Subsection 2.4 summarizes some enhanced Versions of MOEA/D paradigm. Subsection 2.5 reviews some multimethod search approaches dealing optimization problems.

Swarm intelligence is a discipline which makes use of a number of agents for solving optimization problems by producing low cost, fast and robust solutions. The dragonfly algorithm (DA), a recently proposed swarm intelligence algorithm, is inspired by the dynamic and static swarming behaviors of dragonflies, and it has been found to have a higher performance in comparison to other swarm intelligence and evolutionary algorithms in numerous applications. There are only a few surveys about the dragonfly algorithm, and we have found that they are limited in certain aspects. Hence, in this paper, we present a more comprehensive survey about DA, its applications in various domains, and its performance as compared to other swarm intelligence algorithms. We also analyze the hybrids of DA, the methods they employ to enhance the original DA, their performance as compared to the original DA, and their limitations. Moreover, we categorize the hybrids of DA according to the type of problem that they have been applied to, their objectives, and the methods that they utilize.

Algorithmic composition is the partial or total automation of the process of music composition by using computers. I argue that acknowledging Hume as a doxastic naturalist about belief in a deity allows an elegant, holistic reading of his Dialogues. It supports a reading in which Hume's spokesperson is Philo throughout, and enlightens many of the interpretive difficulties of the work. In arguing this, I perform a comprehensive survey of evidence for and against Philo as Hume's voice, bringing new evidence to bear against the interpretation of Hume as Cleanthes and against the amalgamation view while correcting several standard mistakes. I ultimately isolate the interpretation of Philo's Reversal at the end of the Dialogues as of paramount importance, and show how my naturalistic interpretation makes this, and other notoriously difficult passages, unproblematic.

This article offers the first comprehensive survey of scholarly literature devoted to the Qur??nic works of the famous Muslim philosopher, Mull? ?adr? (d. 1050/1640). While taking account of the merits and shortcomings of studies on ?adr?’s Qur??nic writings, we will also be concerned with highlighting some of the methodological problems raised by the diverse range of approaches adopted in these studies. Chief amongst them is the tendency to pit ?adr? the philosopher against ?adr? the scriptural exegete. Such a dichotomy is not entirely helpful, both with respect to painting a clearer picture of ?adr?’s religious worldview, and to addressing broader questions pertaining to the intimate relationship shared between the “act” of philosophy and the “act” of reading scripture.

This paper outlines the background to earlier studies of the orientation of the OrkneyCromarty (OC) passage cairns and the Clava passage and ring cairns, and details the outcome of a new and comprehensive survey carried out by the author over recent years. The paper sets out evidence of orientations in both sets of cairns to the eight divisions of the year and tests whether the alignments were observable. The results were compared to see if the Clava cairns had been influenced by the older OC cairns. Other solar and/or lunar aligned monuments are also briefly examined, as is relevant folklore.

Vision is the science that informs us about the biological and evolutionary algorithms that our eyes, opticnerves and brains have chosen over time to see. This article is an attempt to solve the problem of colour to grey conversion, by borrowing ideas from vision science. We introduce an algorithm that measures contrast along the opponent colour directions and use the results to combine a three dimensional colour space into a grey. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm competes with the state of art algorithms.
