Sm0.3Ce(0.7-x)MoxO(1.85+δ) yellow pigments were prepared by solid-state synthesis method, which were obtained by doping molybdenum for substitution of Ce4+ in Sm0.3Ce0.7O1.85. Effects of Molybdenum doping amount on crystal structure of the pigments were investigated and the coloring mechanism of the pigments was analyzed. The results show that molybdenum doping has markedly changed the color of the pigments. The color of pigments changed from cream to yellow as molybdenum doping amount increased from x=0.00 to x=0.04. And the color changed from yellow to yellow green when x was adjusted from x=0.05 to x=0.07. When x=0.08, the color of pigments changed to gray.

A novel cathode material with Ti-substitution on Ni site, P2-type Na0.67Ni0.25Ti0.08Mn0.67O2 has been synthesized via solid-state synthesis method and characterized electrochemically. Na0.67Ni0.25Ti0.08Mn0.67O2 electrodes have been observed tobe highly reversible at higher voltage ranges. The electrodes have an initial discharge capacity of 125 mAhg-1and can retain around 84% of this capacity (105 mAhg-1) even after 50 cycles at 0.1C when cycled at an uppercut-off voltage of 4.3 V. Na0.67Ni0.25Ti0.08Mn0.67O2 electrodes are believed to suppress the irreversible P2-O2 transformation by diverting the charging reaction through a more reversible P2-OP4transition.

Single phase materials with general formula CdxMeyCr2Se4 (where Me = Mn, Sn) were obtained using solid state synthesis method. Both compounds are ferromagnets with TC =115K (Sn) and 135K (Mn). The values of Curie-Weiss parameter ΘC-W = 135K (Sn) and 145K (Mn) are higher than respective values of TC indicating a presence of competing antiferromagnetic component. The values of lattice parameters are consistent with Sn and Mn replacing Cd. Slight cadmium deficiency has been also observed.
