AbstractPrevious treatments by Ambartsumian and by Cruz-González are combined into a Fokker-Planck equation that describes the time evolution of the distribution of orbit sizes of a set of wide binaries, as encounters with field stars statistically change the orbits. A solution can be found that predicts the distribution of separations greater than about 3000 AU.

AbstractWe define a time-changed fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process by composing a fractional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process with the inverse of a subordinator. Properties of the moments of such process are investigated and the existence of the density is shown. We also provide a generalized Fokker-Planck equation for the density of the process.
