6 Fe complexes of the type [Fe(X-bdt)(PR2NPh2)(CO)] were prepared and the possibility to tune their electronic properties by ligand modification was demonstrated. IR spectroscopic and computational studies suggest that the compounds exist as a mixture of isomers in solution.

Three mononuclear iron(ii) complexes with novel asymmetric tridentate ligands were synthesized and their structures and magnetic properties were studied. The ligand substituents were found to affect the supramolecular packing and spin-crossover properties of the complexes.

Mono- and bis-chelated iron(iii) complexes derived from phenolato-based tridentate ligands have been synthesised and characterized. These complexes show electrostatic DNA interactions and efficient DNA cleavage via OH˙ radicals, and induce cytotoxicity in MCF7 cell lines.
