The transfer of spin angular momentum from a spin polarized current provides an efficient way of reversing the magnetization direction of the free layer of the magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ), and while faster reversal will reduce the switching energy, this in turn will lead to low power consumption. In this work, we propose a design where a spin torque oscillator (STO) is integrated with a conventional magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) which will assist in the ultrafast reversal of the magnetization of the free layer of the MTJ. The structure formed (MTJ stacked with STO), will have the free layer of the MTJ sandwiched between two spin polarizer layers, one with a fixed magnetization direction perpendicular to film plane (main static polarizer) and the other with an oscillatory magnetization (dynamic polarizer). The static polarizer is the fixed layer of the MTJ itself and the dynamic polarizer is the free layer of the STO.

AbstractMagnetostriction properties of Ni and FeGa films with easy-plane anisotropy and Co/Pt multilayer structures with perpendicular anisotropy have been experimentally investigated. The magnetic properties of films have been studied by magneto-optical methods. Magneto-optical measurements have been performed with controlled bending of the substrate on which the magnetic film is deposited. It is shown that substrate bending induces rotation of the anisotropy axis of the Ni and FeGa films by 90° relative to its initial direction in an unstrained film. The value of perpendicular anisotropy in the Co/Pt multilayer films is shown to change at substrate bending. The layer parameters, at which the magnetostriction effect can be observed in films with perpendicular anisotropy, are established.

The features of switching dynamics in a model of a three-layered valve have been investigated theoretically and numerically. For this purpose, the system of ordinary differential equations in the approximation of the uniform magnetization distribution for the magnetization dynamics in the valve with perpendicular anisotropy was derived. It was shown that in such a system, in contrast with the system for the in-plane anisotropy, there are only two equilibrium positions of the magnetization vector. The stability analysis of the stationary points of the system has been carried out. With its help, the classification of types of dynamics versus field and current values was performed. The regions of limit cycles existence and the regions of optimal magnetization switching were revealed.
