Calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) or calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor was first introduced in 1962 by Gorlin et al., as a possible oral counterpart of calcifying epitheliomas of Malherbe in skin. This lesion is a rare odontogenic lesion with variable clinico-histological characteristics. Three different histologic subtypes has been reported for COC. In this study we presented a female patient diagnosed with ameloblastomatous COC a very rare variant of this lesion and challenges regarding microscopic diagnosis and treatment of it is discussed.

ABSTRACT Adenomatoid odontogenic cyst (AOC) is a benign, slow growing, relatively uncommon lesion of odontogenic origin. Histogenesis of AOC is still uncertain; however, it is often considered as a hamartomatous lesion rather than a true neoplasm. It is described as a cyst that has a hamartomatous intraluminal proliferation of epithelial cells derived from Hertwig's epithelial root sheath. It usually presents as an expansile lesion in maxillary anterior region. Adenomatoid odontogenic cyst is characterized histopathologically as well-demarcated cysts that typically appear with intraluminal masses. In the present paper, we report a rare case of AOC, thereby emphasizing the terminology and the histoarchitectural spectrum. How to cite this article Narayanan N, Pathak J, Patel S, Swain N. This report reviews the literature involving the central giant cell granuloma. Diagnosis and treatment are presented. The article reports the case of central giant cell granuloma, affecting the anterior region maxillary of a child, whom a conservative treatment, with cryotherapy, helped the preservation of anterior permanent teeth germs.
