Abstract A description is provided for Ramularia pratensis. Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOSTS: Rumex acetosa, R. aquaticus, R. acetosella, R. hydrolapathum, R. longifolius, R. obtusifolius, R. thyrsiflorus. DISEASE: Leaf spot of Rumex spp. Round or oval lesions, from (1-) 2 (-3) mm diam., with a distinct purple-brown border and buff centre. GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Europe: Channel Islands, Eire, Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Sweden. TRANSMISSION: Probably wind-dispersal by air-borne spores.

HOSTS: Spinacia oleracea. Reports of this species from other hosts, such as Impatiens and Brassica, generally refer to infections by Cladosporium macrocarpum Preuss. DISEASE: Leaf-spot of spinach. GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Asia: China (Shaanxi, Xinjiang), India. N. America: USA (MA, VA). Europe: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain, UK. TRANSMISSION: By wind dispersal of airborne conidia.

Abstract A description is provided for Alternaria longissima. Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOSTS: On pollen grains, husks and grains of numerous members of the Poaceae, such as Zea mays, Pennisetum typhoides, Saccharum officinarum and Oryza sativa; on seeds of Sesamum and Capsicum, and on diverse plant debris. DISEASE: None is normally caused in the natural environment, however it is reported as causing stem and leaf blight of sunflowers in Thailand (71, 5765), as well as a zonate leaf spot and stem necrosis of Sesamum (61, 5893). GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Africa: Egypt, Malawi, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tanzania, Zambia. C. & S. America: Cuba, Venezuela. N. America: Bermuda, USA (GA, NC). Asia: Bhutan, Brunei, India, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand. Europe: Ukraine. Abstract A description is provided for Alternaria zinniae. Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOSTS: Ageratum, Aster, Bidens, Calendula, Callistephus, Chrysanthemum, Coreopsis, Cosmos, Dahlia, Gaillardia, Galinsoga, Gerbera, Helianthus, Notonia, Parthenium, Sphaeranthus indicus, Tagetes, Tithonia, Volutarella, Xanthium, Zinnia. Also recorded are a number of non-compositae hosts such as bean (50, 3295), rape (43, 1212b), Clarkia, Hibiscus esculentus (66. 4729), pawpaws (66. 4729) and seeds of tobacco (64, 1748) but these reports should be regarded with some doubt. Simmons (1982) also reports other hosts like Gentiana, Papaver and Reseda. DISEASE: Leaf spot of Zinnia. The fungus attacks the leaves, stems of its host and can cause damping-off of seedlings where both the root and the stems of the plant may be affected. In older plants the fungus attacks the older leaves and then spreads to the younger leaves, and when the attack is severe the spots may become confluent. GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Africa: Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Malawi, Mauritius, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Asia: Brunei, China (Liaoning). Abstract A description is provided for Ramularia alba. Information is included on the disease caused by the organism, its transmission, geographical distribution, and hosts. HOST: Lathyrus odoratus, the sweet pea. DISEASE: White blight of sweet pea, also called white mould or Cladosporium blight. Leaf spots vary from yellow flecks to buff coloured dead areas, which may be circular or irregular in shape merging gradually into healthy leaf tissue. Leaf spots may merge together affecting most of the leaf and in such cases defoliation may result (30, 41). GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: Europe (Denmark, England, Sweden). North America (Canada: British Columbia, Ontario; USA: California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas). TRANSMISSION: By wind dispersal of air-borne conidia.
