The leadership literature is replete with admonitions that successful leadership requires confidence. While that may be true, striving for greater confidence runs the risk of overconfidence. Overconfident leaders put themselves, their teams, and their organizations at risk. There are reasons to be skeptical that greater confidence improves performance, and substantial reasons to worry that greater confidence can undermine preparation. This article offers suggestions to avoid being fooled by overconfident charlatans. It also offers strategies for wise and honest leaders who would like to be both confident and truthful.

The article reveals the concept of coaching as an innovative technology of public administration. The technology is based on a democratic leadership style, formed by systematic thinking and a somewhat organized technique of questions, which ultimately focuses on the prospect of positive change and optimization of production relations, based on cooperation and feedback. The global goal of coaching in public administration is defined, which provides constant updating of skills of managerial competence and successful leadership through the formation of worldview, adoption of holistic attitudes, a certain culture of communication and interaction, motivation. The effectiveness of the use of coaching technology in public administration is substantiated. The main further prospects of work on the research are determined. Develop scales of indicators for evaluating the effectiveness of coaching technology in public administration.

This paper mainly focuses on successful leadership practices in secondary school. It aims to identify the recent models and theories of successful leadership practice in schools, and explore the experience of school principal regarding successful school leadership in the Nepalese context. A qualitative study was carried out in Gorkha district for the collection of data. A successful head teacher was selected for in-depth interview to explore the perception and experience about successful practice of school leadership. The findings of the study reveal that strong interpersonal skills, people-centered leadership, clear communication of vision and goal, focus on academic achievement, co-curricular activities, transparency, creating a positive work environment, knowledge of pedagogical contents, and cooperation and collaboration with various stakeholders are the vital constituents of successful leadership practices.
