Leadership is one of the functions of management, and unlike other management functions, it cannot be partially transferred to others, so leadership becomes the most important and real function of management. It is a ubiquitous and current topic because successful leadership is a skill that is present in different aspects of life and organizations, such as in a company, the state, in wars, or within the family. The art is to influence other people and relationships so that they are willing to achieve set goals. Leadership is an action, not a position that is automatically gained by a position in an organization. The phenomenon of leadership and successful leaders always capture the attention of not only the scientific but also the social public. Given the large number of studies conducted and studies written on the importance and the impact of leadership, numerous models, approaches, and leadership theories have been formed. The paper aims to shed some light on the research trends of leadership types in scientific literature. The Scopus database has been researched using the keywords “leadership type”, which resulted in 127 journal articles. A bibliographic analysis has been conducted with the focus on the timeline of publications, trends in leading authors, institutions, and countries, and the financing institutions analysis. Citation analysis has also been conducted with the focus on papers with the highest number of citations. Topics of the papers have been analyzed using the text mining analysis, which revealed a variety of management-related topics. Leadership and management in schools have sought to produce high quality education for all pupils. To inform and support school leaders’ educationalists have developed theories and undertaken research studies identifying the relationships, contexts and characteristics that enable effective leadership. However, recent times of turbulence in primary schools have had an inevitable impact upon the key drivers for successful leadership and management. This study builds upon our previous research into outstanding leadership in primary education to examine the impact that such change has had upon the leadership of serving head teachers. It utilises an adapted Q-sort methodology to identify the views of serving head teachers to gain insights into the impact that such change has had upon their leadership. Overall, the analysis identified a need for aspirational characteristics of leadership, underpinned by personal values to guide schools in such times, as they strive to produce high quality education.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to bring out the possibility of selecting good leaders in Asian countries, i.e., China and Singapore.Design/methodology/approachSince comparative historical analysis enhances the objectivity for academic discussion, Deng Xiaoping’s and Lee Kuan Yew’s leadership successions have been chosen as the cases for studies by virtue of “method of agreement”. Incorporating “argument based on the contrary” into the context for macro-historical analysis, this paper characterises the duo’s successful (at least quite successful) leadership successions, thus offering an alternative paradigm beyond Western-style democracy.FindingsBoth cases of post-Mao China and the independent Singapore indicate that in quite a number of Asian countries, good leaders could still be selected beyond universal suffrage as practised among Western Electoral Democracies, mainly because of the elites-driven context. As to the duo’s succession results, Deng Xiaoping’s selection of leaders was somewhat successful, while Lee Kuan Yew’s was phenomenal.OriginalityThis paper offers readers a glance over the possibility of selecting good leaders in Asian countries not fully based on Western-style democracy. Learning from the duo’s leadership successions, the West may treat elite politics as the supplement under Western Electoral Democracies in order to avoid their countries falling into the trap of populism. The West could meanwhile consider the exceptional criteria prized by the duo for leadership successions. Considering such interactions among elites in the real-life context, it could serve as an alternative model to Western-style democracy.

Authentic leadership in the postmodern world is a necessary concept for organizations. It is a new kind of leadership grounded in the understandings and memories gained in human lives. Organizations need a leadership that is able to critique the shortcomings and myths that support the status quo. It is a leadership grounded in new anthropology and in understanding of the human condition as both feminine, masculine and multicultural, as embedded in nature. This paper reviews literature on the realities associated with authentic leadership in an attempt to answer the question of whether authenticity is significant in developing successful leadership practice. It also evaluates effects of authenticity to leadership practice today. For a better perspective of authentic leadership, a four-component model of authentic leadership consisting of self-awareness, balanced processing, internalized moral perspective and relational transparency is analyzed. The article analyzes the implications of the model to the leader today and identifies practical steps for developing authentic leaders. Authentic leaders help organizations to sustain competitive advantage. Extant literature focuses on studies with practical implications for authentic leadership. The paper generally conceptualizes authentic leadership and authenticity in leadership.

<p>In general, leadership is strongly correlated with the empowerment of the followers’ personal vision as well as with the effectiveness of their work. On the top of that, the admiration derived of a group of people towards a leader, is a determine factor to characterize the leader as “charismatic – emotionally intelligent”. Consequently, final target along with the adopted strategies are the key points for successful leadership. This is how a high-leveled Job Satisfaction environment for the employees, can be secured, protecting them against Job Burnout syndrome. In Special Education, the consequences of Job Burnout seem to be profoundly serious concerning not only the teacher him/herself but also his/her work efficiency. It has been found that teachers, who face the Job Burnout are usually physically and mentally tired, depressed, and continually anxious, keeping themselves isolated and not easily accessible. This research aims to investigate the correlation between the school leader’s emotionally intelligence and the existence of supportive working environment, where the teacher is motivated, inspired and protected by the danger of Job Burnout.</p>

The article reveals the concept of coaching as an innovative technology of public administration. The technology is based on a democratic leadership style, formed by systematic thinking and a somewhat organized technique of questions, which ultimately focuses on the prospect of positive change and optimization of production relations, based on cooperation and feedback. The global goal of coaching in public administration is defined, which provides constant updating of skills of managerial competence and successful leadership through the formation of worldview, adoption of holistic attitudes, a certain culture of communication and interaction, motivation. The effectiveness of the use of coaching technology in public administration is substantiated. The main further prospects of work on the research are determined. Develop scales of indicators for evaluating the effectiveness of coaching technology in public administration.

This study aims to deeply analyze the theory of modern leadership from the perspective of Qur'anic verses and compare them with contemporary studies. In this study, the researcher followed the descriptive, analytical, and comparative approaches. The problem of this study revolves around explaining the inability of Western studies to solve the problem of leadership due to its narrow view of the science of leadership and its various dimensions. For them, the leadership is purely institutional, local, and worldly issues! Unfortunately, it was noticed that some Muslims were impressed negatively by these studies. This study comes to refute those allegations and to show them that the Noble Qur’an has provided us with the principles of local and global leadership in its various surahs and verses through the personalities of the prophets, messengers, kings, and other people in different eras and regions. This study proved that contemporary studies, despite their abundance and diversity; It did not bring anything new more than what the Holy Qur’an had brought about fourteen centuries ago. This study was divided into an introduction, two chapters, and a conclusion. In the first chapter, I mentioned the theories and approaches of modern leadership, then in the second chapter, I commented on the alternative Qur’anic perspective on the science of successful leadership, with its conclusion and recommendations.
