We show that an isometric immersion of an n−dimensional compact Riemannian manifold of non-negative Ricci curvature with scalar curvature always less than n(n−1)λ−2 into a Euclidean space of dimension n + 1 can never be contained in a ball of radius λ.

AbstractLet ℱ be a Kähler foliation on a compact Riemannian manifold M. If the transversal scalar curvature of ℱ is nonzero constant, then any transversal conformal field is a transversal Killing field; and if the transversal Ricci curvature is nonnegative and positive at some point, then there are no transversally holomorphic fields.

AbstractLet (M, g(t)) be a compact Riemannian manifold and the metric g(t) evolve by the Ricci flow. In the paper, we prove that the eigenvalues of geometric operator −Δφ + $\frac{R}{2}$ are non-decreasing under the Ricci flow for manifold M with some curvature conditions, where Δφ is the Witten Laplacian operator, φ ∈ C2(M), and R is the scalar curvature with respect to the metric g(t). We also derive the evolution of eigenvalues under the normalized Ricci flow. As a consequence, we show that compact steady Ricci breather with these curvature conditions must be trivial.

AbstractOn a complete non-compact Riemannian manifold satisfying the volume doubling property, we give conditions on the negative part of the Ricci curvature that ensure that, unless there are harmonic 1-forms, the Gaussian heat kernel upper estimate on functions transfers to one-forms. These conditions do no entail any constraint on the size of the Ricci curvature, only on its decay at infinity.

AbstractIn this article we prove a reverse Hölder inequality for the fundamental eigenfunction of the Dirichlet problem on domains of a compact Riemannian manifold with lower Ricci curvature bounds. We also prove an isoperimetric inequality for the torsional ridigity of such domains

Let M be an n-dimensional compact Riemannian manifold. We study the fundamental group of M when the universal covering space of M, M is close to some Euclidean space ℝs asymptotically.

It is known that the order of the isometry group on a compact Riemannian manifold with negative Ricci curvature is finite. We show by local nilpotent structures that a bound on the orders of the isometry groups exists depending only on the Ricci curvature, the conjugate radius and the diameter.

In this article, we show that the presence of a torqued vector field on a Riemannian manifold can be used to obtain rigidity results for Riemannian manifolds of constant curvature. More precisely, we show that there is no torqued vector field on n-sphere Sn(c). A nontrivial example of torqued vector field is constructed on an open subset of the Euclidean space En whose torqued function and torqued form are nowhere zero. It is shown that owing to topology of the Euclidean space En, this type of torqued vector fields could not be extended globally to En. Finally, we find a necessary and sufficient condition for a torqued vector field on a compact Riemannian manifold to be a concircular vector field.
