AbstractThe tangent bundle TkM of order k of a smooth Banach manifold M consists of all equivalence classes of curves that agree up to their accelerations of order k. In previous work the author proved that TkM, 1 ≤ k ≤∞, admits a vector bundle structure on M if and only if M is endowed with a linear connection, or equivalently if a connection map on TkM is defined. This bundle structure depends heavily on the choice of the connection. In this paper we ask about the extent to which this vector bundle structure remains isomorphic. To this end we define the k-th order differential Tkg : TkM ⟶ TkN for a given differentiable map g between manifolds M and N. As we shall see, Tkg becomes a vector bundle morphism if the base manifolds are endowed with g-related connections. In particular, replacing a connection with a g-related one, where g : M ⟶ M is a diffeomorphism, one obtains invariant vector bundle structures. Finally, using immersions on Hilbert manifolds, convex combinations of connection maps and manifolds of Cr maps we offer three examples for our theory, showing its interaction with known problems such as the Sasaki lift of metrics.

We consider filtered holomorphic vector bundles on a compact Riemann surfaceXequipped with a holomorphic connection satisfying a certain transversality condition with respect to the filtration. IfQis a stable vector bundle of rankrand degree(1−genus(X))nr, then any holomorphic connection on the jet bundleJn(Q)satisfies this transversality condition for the natural filtration ofJn(Q)defined by projections to lower-order jets. The vector bundleJn(Q)admits holomorphic connection. The main result is the construction of a bijective correspondence between the space of all equivalence classes of holomorphic vector bundles onXwith a filtration of lengthntogether with a holomorphic connection satisfying the transversality condition and the space of all isomorphism classes of holomorphic differential operators of ordernwhose symbol is the identity map.

Abstract Let 𝓔 k denote the set of diffeomorphism classes of closed connected smooth k-manifolds X with the property that for any oriented vector bundle α over X, the Euler class e(α) = 0. We show that if X ∈ 𝓔2n+1 is orientable, then X is a rational homology sphere and π 1(X) is perfect. We also show that 𝓔8 = ∅ and derive additional cohomlogical restrictions on orientable manifolds in 𝓔 k .

AbstractHere we classify the weakly uniform rank two vector bundles on multiprojective spaces. Moreover, we show that every rank r>2 weakly uniform vector bundle with splitting type a1,1=⋯=ar,s=0 is trivial and every rank r>2 uniform vector bundle with splitting type a1>⋯>ar splits.

AbstractLet X be a differentiable manifold endowed with a transitive action α: A×X→X of a Lie group A. Let K be a Lie group. Under suitable technical assumptions, we give explicit classification theorems, in terms of explicit finite dimensional quotients, of three classes of objects:equivalence classes of α-invariant K-connections on X α-invariant gauge classes of K-connections on X, andα-invariant isomorphism classes of pairs (Q,P) consisting of a holomorphic Kℂ-bundle Q → X and a K-reduction P of Q (when X has an α-invariant complex structure).

AbstractFor a 2-category 2C we associate a notion of a principal 2C-bundle. For the 2-category of 2-vector spaces, in the sense of M.M. Kapranov and V.A. Voevodsky, this gives the 2-vector bundles of N.A. Baas, B.I. Dundas and J. Rognes. Our main result says that the geometric nerve of a good 2-category is a classifying space for the associated principal 2-bundles. In the process of proving this we develop powerful machinery which may be useful in further studies of 2-categorical topology. As a corollary we get a new proof of the classification of principal bundles. Another 2-category of 2-vector spaces has been proposed by J.C. Baez and A.S. Crans. A calculation using our main theorem shows that in this case the theory of principal 2-bundles splits, up to concordance, as two copies of ordinary vector bundle theory. When 2C is a cobordism type 2-category we get a new notion of cobordism-bundles which turns out to be classified by the Madsen–Weiss spaces.
