Problems of infrageneric classification in Pedicularis L. (Scrophulariaceae), and the phytogeography of the genus in the Flora of Bhutan area, are discussed. Six new species and one new variety of Pedicularis L. are described. Pedicularis garckeana Prain ex Maxim. is separated from P. ser. Robustae Prain as the new, monospecific series Garckeanae R. R. Mill (Sikkim and adjacent Xizang). Six of these new taxa are endemic to Bhutan (P. dhurensis R. R. Mill sp. nov., P. longipedicellata P. C. Tsoong var. lanocalyx R. R. Mill var. nov., P. melalimne R. R. Mill sp. nov., P. microloba R. R. Mill sp. nov., P. sanguilimbata R. R. Mill sp. nov. and P. woodii R. R. Mill sp. nov.) and one (P. yarilaica R. R. Mill sp. nov.) occurs in N Bhutan and S Xizang. The type material of Phtheirospermum auratum Bonati (=Pedicularis aurata (Bonati) H. L. Li) is shown to be a mixed gathering; the name is lectotypified and an emended description of P. aurata given. Several other names are lectotypified. Three sectional names originally proposed by Yamazaki (each ‘based’ on invalid ‘names’ of groups earlier recognized as subgreges by Tsoong) are validated as P. sect. Asthenocaulus [P. C. Tsoong ex] R. R. Mill, P. sect. Nothosigmantha T. Yamaz. ex R. R. Mill, and P. sect. Rhizophyllastrum T. Yamaz. ex R. R. Mill, while a fourth invalid section (‘P. sect. Brachystachys (P. C. Tsoong) T. Yamaz.’) is here recognized and described as P. sect. Brevispica R. R. Mill, sect. nov. Pedicularis sect. Cryptorhynchus T. Yamaz. and P. sect. Elephanticeps T. Yamaz. are provided with emended descriptions. The nomenclature of P. pennelliana P. C. Tsoong and related taxa of the P. gracilis Wall. ex Benth. complex is discussed.

In this study, one new species and one new variety are described and illustrated. Elatostema intanondense Q. Lin (Urticaceae), collected from Doi Intanond of Chiang Mai in Thailand, is morphologically similar to E. subincisum Weddell, but differs by having obscure stipules (vs. conspicuous, linear-lanceolate, 5-6 mm long in E. subincisum), and elliptic to lanceolate nanophylls, 3-7 × 1.5-3.0 mm (vs. absent in E. subincisum). Elatostema ranongense Yahara var. glabroum Q. Lin, a new variety collected from Khasi Hills in Mawhplong of Meghalaya, India. This new variety has glabrous stems and glabrous leaves that differs from var. ranongense that having densely hirtellous stems, densely strigillose leaf blade on abaxial surface along veins. Keywords: Elatostema; E. intanondense; E. ranongense var. glabroum; Urticaceae.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bjpt.v18i2.9300Bangladesh J. The paper presents a taxonomic review of Bulbophyllum section Rhytionanthos for the flora of Vietnam and provides the key for its species’ identification. A new species, B. truongtamii and a new variety, B. taeniophyllum var. denticulatoalatum are described for science. Bulbophyllum nodosum is reported for the first time from the country. Bulbophyllum strigosum, described 20 years ago based on cultivated plant of uncertain origin was rediscovered in NE Vietnam. For this species, location and detailed description are reported. Analytical photos, data on phenology, ecology, and distribution are presented for all studied species. The morphological comparison table of the new species, new variety and newly recorded species segregating them from similar species are presented.

New taxa and records of Diplycosia (Ericaceae) from recent expeditions to Sulawesi are described. Diplycosia balgooyi Argent, D. gallowayana Argent, D. glaucicaulis Argent, D. hendriana Argent and D. supyanii Argent are described as new species. Diplycosia minutiflora Sleumer var. glandulifera Argent is described as a new variety and the new combination D. capitata Sleumer var. crassiramea (Sleumer) Argent is made. A key to all the known species of Diplycosia from this island is provided, together with short descriptions of the previously described species.

Three new species of Erythroxylumfrom Amazoniaare described: Enythroxylum nelson-rosaePlowman, E. schunkeiPlowman and E. tucuruiendePlowman. An emended des-cription is given for E; ligustrinum DC., previously know from a single collection from French Guiana: its is here cited from Brazil for the first time. A new variety, E. ligustrinum var. carajasensePlowman, is also described. A provisional list of all Erythroxylum species occurring in Amazonia and peripheral areas is appended.

One new species and one new variety of Gesneriaceae in Vietnam are described, viz. Paraboea sinensis var. glabrissimavar. nov. and Primulina xuansonensissp. nov. These two new taxa grow in limestone regions in North Vietnam. The former new variety differs from Paraboea sinensis (Oliv.) Burtt var. sinensis in its young leaf abaxially, stem and peduncle sparsely and thin pannose, acute top of leaves, pistil glandular-pubescent or pubescent. The latter new species differs in its bracts 1.6–2.5 × 1.3–1.5 cm, corolla 3–3.5 cm long, corolla tube slightly curved near the base and inflated on the adaxial surface near the corolla lobes, and corolla abaxial lip lobes rounded. The two new taxa grow at Xuan Son National Natural Reserve, North Vietnam and remain undisturbed with low risk of extinction.

Abstract Five new species and one new variety of loricate euglenoid taxa were discovered in Thailand: Strombomonas starmachii Duangjan & Wołowski, S. chiangmaiensis Duangjan, Trachelomonas peerapornpisalii Duangjan & Wołowski, T. thailandicus Duangjan & Wołowski, T. reticulato-spinifera Duangjan and T. hystrix var. paucispinosa Prowse. We propose to raise the variety to species level [T. paucispinosa (Prowse) Duangjan & Wołowski, stat. et comb. nov.]. The morphology and fine lorica ultrastructure of the species are described. All taxa are documented by SEM images and some by LM micrographs.

In the course of a taxonomic study of Radula in Brazil, a new species from Bahia and a new variety of R. fendleri from Rio de Janeiro were detected. The new species is characterized by plants irregularly pinnate, leaves oblong-ovate with entire to sinuate margins, cell walls with small trigones at leaf base and midleaf, increasing in size toward the leaf margins, and lobules distant to subimbricate with a rounded base, covering 2/3 to fully overlapping the stem. The new variety differs from the type variety by plants paroicous, leaf cells with trigones small or lacking, and absence of caducous leaves. A full description and illustration of the new taxa as well as comments on morphology, taxonomy, and distribution are provided.
