Introduction: Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) of the head and neck is a rare malignant tumor, with one hundred cases diagnosed so far in the literature. Observation: A 66 years old female patient had a ASC of the right posterior floor of the mouth with a classification T1N0M0. Treatment consisted of surgical management and active surveillance. Discussion: Through this case report, we present this type of tumor and we discuss the main differential diagnosis from a clinical and histological point of view. Conclusion: This entity was described for the first time in 1968 by Gerughty. The CAS is defined by the World Health Organization as “a tumor of the upper respiratory tract, with two distinct squamous and glandular components.” The CAS is considered as an aggressive tumor with a redoubtable prognosis should not be ignored.

Coronaviruses (CoVs) are a group of viral pathogens that infect mammals and birds. The presentation in humans is typically that of a mild upper respiratory tract infection, similar to the common cold. However, in recent years, dramatic attention has arisen for more lethal members of this viral family (e.g., severe acute respiratory syndrome [SARS-CoV], Middle East respiratory syndrome [MERS-CoV], and coronavirus disease 2019 [COVID-19]). The epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of these viruses are discussed in this review. Importantly, new guideline tables from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as the World Health Organization are provided at the conclusion of the review. This review contains 12 tables, 3 figure and 48 references. According to the data of the World Health Organization, every year influenza develops in up to 1.575 billion people, and 1 million of them die. Although influenza viruses are the leading cause of the upper respiratory tract infections, severe neuromuscular complications occur as well, frequently leading to disability or even death. Children under five years of age and elderly people are at the highest risk of complications and mortality. The article discusses the selected neuromuscular complications of influenza, bringing particular attention to their etiology, symptomatology, diagnostics, and therapy.
