Abstract In a well-known paper by Kyparisis it is proved that, in nonlinear programming, the uniqueness of Lagrange multipliers is equivalent to a strict version of the Mangasarian–Fromovitz constraint qualification which, in turn, implies the satisfaction of second-order necessary optimality conditions. This is no longer the case in optimal control where, as shown in a recent paper, the corresponding strict constraint qualification is only sufficient for the uniqueness of multipliers. In this paper we exhibit the missing piece: a new, simple condition, implied by the strict constraint qualification, which is necessary and sufficient for the uniqueness of multipliers in optimal control.

In this article, we study the Mazur–Ulam property of the sum of two strictly convex Banach spaces. We give an equivalent form of the isometric extension problem and two equivalent conditions to decide whether all strictly convex Banach spaces admit the Mazur–Ulam property. We also find necessary and sufficient conditions under which the $\ell ^{1}$-sum and the $\ell ^{\infty }$-sum of two strictly convex Banach spaces admit the Mazur–Ulam property.

This paper deals with robust quasi approximate optimal solutions for a nonsmooth semi-infinite optimization problems with uncertainty data. By virtue of the epigraphs of the conjugates of the constraint functions, we first introduce a robust type closed convex constraint qualification. Then, by using the robust type closed convex constraint qualification and robust optimization technique, we obtain some necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for robust quasi approximate optimal solution and exact optimal solution of this nonsmooth uncertain semi-infinite optimization problem. Moreover, the obtained results in this paper are applied to a nonsmooth uncertain optimization problem with cone constraints.

Without any constraint qualification, the necessary and sufficient optimality conditions are established in this paper for nonsmooth multiobjective programming involving generalised convex functions. With these optimality conditions, a mixed dual model is constructed which unifies two dual models. Several theorems on mixed duality and Lagrange multipliers are established in this paper.

Necessary and sufficient conditions for a Banach space with the Mazur intersection property to be an Asplund space are given. It is proved that Mazur intersection property is determined by the separable subspaces of the space. Corresponding problems for a space to have the ball-generated property are considered. Some comments on possible renorming so that a space having the Mazur intersection property are given.

Bi-Banach frames in Banach spaces have been defined and studied. A necessary and sufficient condition under which a Banach space has a Bi-Banach frame has been given. Finally, Pseudo exact retro Banach frames have been defined and studied.

A necessary and sufficient condition for the associated sequence of functionals to a complete minimal sequence to be a Banach frame has been given. We give the definition of a weak-exact Banach frame, and observe that an exact Banach frame is weak-exact. An example of a weak-exact Banach frame which is not exact has been given. A necessary and sufficient condition for a Banach frame to be a weak-exact Banach frame has been obtained. Finally, a necessary condition for the perturbation of a retro Banach frame by a finite number of linearly independent vectors to be a retro Banach frame has been given.

Let X be a Banach space. Let K be a nonempty subset of X. Let T : K ? K be an I-asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive type mapping and I : K ? K be an asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive type mappings in the Banach space. Our aim is to establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for the convergence of the Ishikawa iterative sequences with errors of an I-asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive type mappping in Banach spaces to a common fixed point of T and I. Also, we study the convergence of the Ishikawa iterative sequences to common fixed point for nonself I-asymptotically quasinonexpansive type mapping in Banach spaces. The results presented in this paper extend and generalize some recent work of Chang and Zhou [1], Wang [19], Yao and Wang [20] and many others.
