Nonlinear evolution at small x was evaluated numerically with full dependence on impact parameter using the BK equation. several distinct behaviors were found and are presented for the leading logarithmic kernel in the BK evolution equation with both fixed and running coupling. The value of the saturation scale at various dipole sizes was found to agree with analytic expectations. Calculation of the F2structure function from the numerical solution of the evolution with running coupling were then compared to the HERA data and qualitative agreement found. The agreement is improved with inclusion of soft contributions and these are discussed.

We present a set of formulas to extract the longitudinal deep inelastic structure function FL from the transverse structure function F2 and its derivative dF2/d ln Q2 at small x. Our expressions are valid for any non-negative value of δ, with x-δ the behavior of the parton densities at low x. Using F2 HERA data we obtain FL in the range 10-4≤ x≤10-2 at Q2=20 GeV 2. Some other applications of the formulas are pointed out.

We compare the Parton distributions deduced in the framework of a quantum statistical approach for both the longitudinal and transverse degrees of freedom with the unpolarized distributions measured at HERA and with the polarized ones proposed in a previous paper, which have been shown to be in very good agreement also with the results of experiments performed after that proposal. The agreement with HERA data in correspondence to very similar values for the “temperature” and the “potentials” found in the previous work gives a robust confirm of the statistical model. The unpolarized distributions are compared also with the result of NNPDF. The free parameters are fixed mainly by data in the range (0.1, 0.5) for the x variable, where the valence Partons dominate, and in the small x region for the diffractive contribution. This feature makes the parametrization proposed here very attractive.
