This study is analyzed by numerical analysis using finite element method program of Plaxis-3D Tunnel at Kaohsiung Science Park in Taiwan. It probes the risk of tunneling procedure adopting pipe jacking construction (PJC) with man–made excavation. The main parameters of numerical calculation in this research include advancement size, soil improvement ratio and void contraction ratio, etc. Those parameters are calculated to displacement and stress distribution and we get ground movement, settlement at crown and heave at invert of tunnel excavation to assess the security. This study finds that it is safe by excavation using PJC with man-made while the gap has to be less than 38mm. Actually, the gap is 100 ~ 150mm under PJC with man-made, and it will result in high risk. Therefore, the PJC with shield has more security than other methods through monitoring ground settlement.

Based on the geometry irregularity of pavement, an expression of the traffic load was put forward. The influence law of design parameters of each part of highway and pavement geometry irregularity on vertical deformation of highway was discussed by the three-dimension finite element numerical analysis. The research shows that the vertical deformation range of highway under the action of traffic load is generally semi-circular; the influence of surface stiffness on vertical deformation is different in different horizontal positions of surface; the influence of subgrade stiffness and foundation stiffness on vertical deformation is remarkable, but that of course stiffness is small; the rational matching of all parts of highway can effectively reduce the vertical deformation; with the increase of geometric irregularity index, the vertical deformation increases significantly.

Combined with the geological conditions and the project features, the selection problem of pilot tunnel construction method of Huangzhuang station is solved. Directing at the commonly used method including CD method, CRD method and double side wall pilot tunnel method, FLAC3D numerical calculation method is adapted to analysis and predict the ground surface deformation and supporting structure hand features. Through analyzing the size and law of surface settlement in this section, the feasibility and differences of these methods is concluded and analyzed. And finally an example is given.
