AbstractWe describe male and female specimens of a species of NeoalbionellaÖzdikmen, 2008 (Siphonostomatoida, Lernaeopodidae), Neoalbionella dannytangisp. nov., infecting the skin of a gulper shark Centrophorus sp. (Centrophoridae) in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Females of the new species most closely resemble those of Neoalbionella globosa (Leigh-Sharpe, 1918) but are unique among congeners by having the combination of 1) terminal endopodal segment of antenna with a reduced distal tubercle having a minute protuberance, 2) maxillule with a spinulose lateral palp and praecoxal endite, 3) maxilla with a swollen tip nearly parallel with the distal surface of the bulla, and 4) maxilliped with a sub-circular spinulose pad along the proximal myxal margin of the corpus maxillipedis. The male copepod was attached to the tip of a female’s posterior process and was assigned to Neoalbionella by having a cephalosome nearly equal in length to the trunk and tapered caudal rami directed posteroventrally (swollen and directed anterodorsally in males of Lernaeopoda von Nordmann, 1832). It was distinct from those of all other congeners by having 1) an antenna terminal endopodal segment and maxillule similar to that of the female, 2) a maxilla syncoxa with an anteromedial process having seven large, conical denticles, 4) a bifid mediative process approximately as wide as the length of the shortest lobe, and 5) a caudal ramus with a unique configuration and number of setae. This is the second report of a species of Neoalbionella from the Gulf of Mexico and the third nominal species of Neoalbionella reported from gulper sharks (Centrophorus spp.). We also provide keys to females and males of Neoalbionella.

A new species of the genus Heradion Dankittipakul & Jocqué, H. intermedium spec. nov., is described based on specimens collected in southern Vietnam. Heradion paradiseum (Ono) comb. nov., H. flammeum (Ono) comb. nov. and H. momoinum (Ono) comb. nov. are here transferred from Mallinella Strand. All the Heradion species treated in the present study belong to the H. naiadis-group which comprises six nominal species known from evergreen hill forests of Thailand and Vietnam. A map showing distribution of the species-group and a key to species of the genus Heradion of Vietnam are provided.

Eucyclops torresphilipi sp. nov. is described from samples collected in the state of Chiapas, on the southeastern Pacific coast of Mexico. It belongs to a group of species similar to the presumably cosmopolitan E. agilis (Koch, 1838). The new species is closest to the South American E. delachauxi (Kiefer, 1925); it can be distinguished from its congeners by a combination of characters that include a fifth leg with a particularly slender inner spiniform seta that is as long as the outer seta, the caudal rami has spinules covering up to of the outer margin, caudal rami over 4 times longer than wide, the relative length of the dorsal seta, and the proportion of the terminal spines of the third exopodal segment of the fourth legs. Only nine other nominal species of Eucyclops have been recorded in Mexico; nearly half of them are known also from South America. The new species seems to have a restricted distributional range; however, it could be present also in Guatemala. Its morphological affinity with South American forms confirms the influence of the South American cyclopoid fauna in Mexico. A key for the identification of the species of Eucyclops recorded in Mexico is included.

Platydoras brachylecis, new species, is described from coastal drainages of northeastern Brazil (Pindaré to Parnaíba rivers), and diagnosed from congeners by the unique combination of: pale yellow to white stripe beginning above orbits, continuing midlaterally on body and onto middle rays of caudal fin; skin in axil of each midlateral thorn without concentration of pigment forming small dark spot, midlateral scutes shallow (depth of 10th scute 8.8-11.9% of SL), and midlateral scutes on caudal peduncle distinctly separated by strip of skin from middorsal and midventral caudal-peduncle plates. Three additional species of Platydoras are recognized as valid: P. armatulus (lower Orinoco, Amazon and Paraguay-Paraná drainages), P. costatus (coastal drainages of Suriname and French Guiana), and P. hancockii (upper Orinoco, Negro, Essequibo and Demerara drainages). The nominal species P. dentatus and P. helicophilus are tentatively treated as junior synonyms of P. costatus. A key to species of Platydoras is provided.

Abstract—Justicia rubrobracteata, a new species from northeastern Brazil, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically similar to J. aequilabris due to its shrubby habit, and terminal and axillary spicate inflorescences with red flowers. However, J. rubrobracteata is differentiated mainly by the shape and color of its bracts and bracteoles as well as an orangish macula in the corolla, and a torulose capsule. In addition, J. rubrobracteata is only known from northeastern Brazil, from the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, while J. aequilabris is widely distributed in Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. A table with the main morphological characters of both species is included, as well as photographs, a key to species of Justicia for the states of Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte in northeastern Brazil, a distribution map of both species, and conservation data for the new species.

Two braconid genera from the subfamily Alysiinae, Lodbrokia Hedqvist, 1962 and Asyntactus Marshall, 1898, are recorded in the fauna of Russia and in the Asian continent for the first time. A new species Lodbrokia uralica sp. nov. is described from the Urals, and a key to species of this genus is provided. Redescriptions of the female and male of Asyntactus rhogaleus Marshall, 1898 with information about the level of variability of its morphological characters are given. Asyntactus sigalphoides Marshall, 1898 is synonymised with A. rhogaleus Marshall, 1898 (syn. nov.).

The genus Systenus Loew, 1857 is recorded from Afrotropical Region for the first time. A description of a new species, Systenus africanus Grichanov sp. nov., and notes on females of another probably new Afrotropical species are provided. The genus is considered now as cosmopolitan. A key to species and species groups of the Systenus worldwide is compiled.

Abstract Coomansus batxatensis sp. nov., recorded from Vietnam, is described and illustrated and its phylogenetic relationship within the Mononchida is analysed. The molecular data (18S and 28S ribosomal DNA) are provided for the new species. The new species is characterized by small body size (body length, L = 0.7–0.9 mm); buccal cavity sub-rectangular in shape, flattened at base, 21–24 × 12–13 μm or 1.9 (1.7–2.0) times as long as wide; posterior position of dorsal tooth apex (59–63% from the base of buccal cavity); pars refringens vaginae with faint and small (2.5 × 1.7 μm) teardrop-shaped pieces, short pars distalis vaginae; and males with short spicules (50–51.5 μm) with rounded head and conical blade part. The new species is close to Coomansus parvus but differs from it by the smaller buccal cavity size, more posterior position of the dorsal tooth apex, longer tail and presence of males. An updated identification key to Coomansus species and a compendium of all the species known are presented.

A new genus and species, Unguitarsonemus paradoxus n. gen., n. sp. and a new species, Pseudotarsonemoides peruviensis n. sp. (Acari: Trombidiformes: Tarsonemidae), are described based on phoretic females collected on bark beetles Phloeotribus pilula and Ph. biguttatus, respectively, from Peru. A key to species of the genus Pseudotarsonemoides is provided.
