Tiaprofenic acid (Surgam - Cassenne) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which the manufacturer has claimed relieves joint pain while sparing the gastric mucosa; from the launch of the drug in April 1982 the slogan has been ‘potency with protection’. The company is now abandoning the claim relating to gastric protection.
