Single crystals of the phase NaBa4Cu0,5Pt1,5O8 were prepared in closed silver tubes. The black and moisture sensitive crystals were investigated by four-circle diffractometer X-ray techniques. They show trigonal symmetry, space group D23-P321, a = 10.0644, c = 8.3811 Å, Z = 3 and belong to the perovskites. The typical M2C9; double octahedra are occupied by Pt4+ and Cu2+ in a different manner. Na+ is partly in and out of the centres of trigonal prisms of oxygen. These features will be discussed with respect to the underoccupied point position O(3).
