The essential part (including all the non-hydrogen atoms except two methyl carbons) of the molecule of the title compound, C21H26N4O5, lies on a mirror plane, which bisects thet-butyl groups. The conformation of the C=N bond of this Schiff base compound isE, and there is an intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond present, forming anS(6) ring motif. In the crystal, molecules are linkedviaO—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming zigzag chains propagating along thea-axis direction. There are no other significant intermolecular contacts present.

The benzyloxy ring and the 2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl ring are inclined to the central six-membered ring by 13.68 (9) and 9.13 (8)°, respectively, and to one another by 21.95 (9)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked by O—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming helical chains along [010].

The conformation about the C=N and N=N bonds isE. The 4-methoxybenzene ring and thep-phenylenediamine ring are inclined to the phenol ring by 11.61 (17) and 46.04 (17)°, respectively. The terminalN-phenyl ring is inclined to thep-phenylenediamine ring by 50.72 (17)°. In the crystal, adjacent molecules are linked by C—H...O hydrogen bonds, involving thep-phenylenediamine ring and the phenol ring, forming chains along [001]. The chains are linked by a number of C—H...π interactions, forming slabs propagating parallel to (100).

The new title Schiff base compound, C11H15BrN2O2, crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21 with two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. It was prepared by the condensation reaction of 5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde and aminoethylethanolamine. There is an intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bond with an S(6) ring motif. Moreover, there are intermolecular C—H...N, C—H...O and Br...O interactions in the crystal structure of the title compound.

The title Schiff base compound, C19H18N2O, was prepared by the reaction of equimolar quantities of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde withN-phenylethane-1,2-diamine in a methanol solution. The molecule adopts a zwitterionic conformation with the naphthyl OH group deprotonated and the imine N atom protonated. An intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond forms between them. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the naphthyl system is 86.9 (2)°. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked through intermolecular N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming chains running along thebaxis.

The title chiral photochromic Schiff base compound, C21H19N3O2, was synthesized from (R)-(−)-2-phenylglycinol and salicylaldehyde of azobenzene derivative. The molecule exhibits the keto–amine tautomeric form and displays characteristic features of azobenzene derivatives. The diazenyl group adopts a trans (E) conformation, with N=N bond length of 1.260 (2) Å. The hydroxy group is involved in an intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bond.
