The title compound, (systematic name:N,N′-dibenzyl-3,3′-dimethoxy-1,1′-biphenyl-4,4′-diamine), C28H28N2O2, was synthesized by the reduction of a Schiff base preparedviaa condensation reaction betweeno-dianisidine and benzaldehyde under acidic conditions. The molecule lies on a crystallographic inversion centre so that the asymmetric unit contains one half-molecule. The biphenyl moiety compound is essentially planar. Two intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bonds occur. The dihedral angle between the terminal phenyl and phenylene rings of a benzidine unit is 48.68 (6)°. The methylene C atom of the benzyl group is disordered over two sets of sites, with occupancy ratio 0.779 (18):0.221 (18). In the crystal, molecules are connected by hydrogen bonding betweeno-dianisidine O atoms and H atoms of the terminal benzyl groups, forming a one-dimensional ladder-like structure. In the data from DFT calculations, the central biphenyl showed a twisted conformation.

The title compound, C27H20N2, a Schiff base synthesizedviaa condensation reaction between anthracene-9-carbaldehyde andN-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine, crystallizes with three independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The three molecules have slightly varying overall conformations, all havingtransconformations with respect to the C=N bond. In the crystal, the packing features N—H...N hydrogen bonds, which connect molecules into chains extending along thec-axis direction, interlinked by C—H...π interactions (minimum H...Cg= 2.65 Å) into sheets lying parallel to (001).

The asymmetric unit of the crystal structure of the title compound, C25H18N2·0.5H2O, contains two independent dipyridylspiro(cyclopropanefluorene) (CPF) molecules and one solvent water molecule. The two CPF molecules show significantly different dihedral angles between the pyridine rings and fluorene plane. The water molecule links with the CPF molecules via O—H...N hydrogen bonding to form a one-dimensional supramolecular chain.

The title compound, {[Ba{Co(H-2L1)}(ClO4)(H2O)]ClO4}n,L1 =4,10-bis[(3-hydroxy-4-pyron-2-yl)methyl]-1,7-dimethyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane, is a one-dimensional coordination polymer. The asymmetric unit consists of a {Ba[Co(H–2L1)](ClO4)(H2O)}+cationic fragment and a non-coordinating ClO4−anion. In the neutral [Co(H–2L1)] moiety, the cobalt ion is hexacoordinated in a trigonal–prismatic fashion by the surrounding N4O2donor set. The Ba2+ion is nine-coordinated and exhibits a distorted [BaO9] monocapped square-antiprismatic geometry, the six oxygen atoms coming from three distinct [Co(H–2L1)] moieties, while the remaining three vertices are occupied by the oxygen atoms of a bidentate perchlorate anion and a water molecule. A barium–μ2-oxygen motif develops along theaaxis, connecting symmetry-related dinuclear BaII–CoIIcationic fragments in a wave-like chain, forming a one-dimensional metal coordination polymer. Non-coordinating ClO4−anions are located in the space between the chains. Weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds involving both coordinating and non-coordinating perchlorate anions build the whole crystal architecture. To our knowledge, this is the first example of a macrocyclic ligand forming a BaII-based one-dimensional coordination polymer, containing CoIIions surrounded by a N4O2donor set.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C14H11N3O3, consists of two independent molecules having very similar conformations in which the indazole moieties are planar. The independent molecules are distinguished by small differences in the rotational orientations of the nitro groups. In the crystal, N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds form zigzag chains along the b-axis direction. Additional C—H...O hydrogen bonds link the chains into layers parallel to (10\overline{1}). These are connected by slipped π-stacking and C—H...π(ring) interactions.

The title compound, C13H8Cl3N3O, was synthesized by the condensation reaction of 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde with 6-chloronicotinic acid hydrazide in a methanol solution. The Schiff base molecule displays a trans configuration with respect to the C=N and C—N bonds. The dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridine rings is 5.5 (3)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular N—H...O, C—H...O and C—H...N hydrogen bonds.

In the crystal structure of the title compound, C12H14N4O3, the dihedral angle between the phenyl and imidazole rings is 76.55 (7)°. The nitrite O atoms of the (E)-2-nitriminoimidazolidin-1-yl group act as the acceptors of three N—H...O hydrogen bonds from the N atom of the imidazole ring, resulting in a one-dimensional chain. C—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions are also observed in this complex, extending the structure into a two-dimensional supramolecular sheet.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Co(NCS)2(C6H6N2O)4]·2C6H6N2O·C2H5OH, comprises one CoIIcation, two thiocyanate anions, four coordinating and two solvent isonicotinamide molecules and one ethanol solvent molecule. The CoIIcations are octahedrally coordinated by four N-coordinating isonicotinamide ligands and two terminally N-bonded thiocyanate anions. These discrete complexes are linked by intermolecular N—H...O and N—H...S hydrogen-bonding interactions into a three-dimensional network. The two isonicotinamide and the ethanol solvent molecules are embedded in channels of this network and are linked through further N—H...O and N—H...N hydrogen bonds to the network. The ethanol solvent molecule is disordered over two sets of sites (occupancy ratio 0.6:0.4).

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 3C10H12N22+·2C10H11N2+·8C6H5NO5P−, contains one and a half naphthalene-1,5-diaminium cations, in which the half-molecule has inversion symmetry, one 5-aminonaphthalen-1-aminium cation and four hydrogen (5-carboxypyridin-3-yl)phosphonate anions. The crystal structure is layered and consists of hydrogen-bonded anionic monolayers between which the cations are arranged. The acid monoanions are organized into one-dimensional chains along the [101] directionviahydrogen bonds established between the phosphonate sites. (C)O—H...Npyhydrogen bonds (py is pyridine) crosslink the chains to form an undulating (010) monolayer. The cations serve both to balance the charge of the anionic network and to connect neighbouring layersviamultiple hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

In the title hydrated salt, C12H8Br2N3O+·Br−·H2O, which was synthesized by the reaction of the pyridine derivative Schiff baseN1,N4-bis(pyridine-2-ylmethylene)benzene-1,4-diamine with bromine, the asymmetric unit contains a 2-amino-1,3-dibromo-6-oxo-5,6-dihydropyrido[1,2-a]quinoxalin-11-ium cation, with a protonated pyridine moiety, a bromide anion and a water molecule of solvation. The cation is non-planar with the dibromo-substituted benzene ring, forming dihedral angles of 24.3 (4) and 11.5 (4)° with the fused pyridine and pyrazine ring moieties, respectively. In the crystal, the cations are linked through a centrosymmetric hydrogen-bonded cyclicR42(8) Br2(H2O)2unit by N—H...Br, N—H...O and O—H...Br hydrogen bonds, forming one-dimensional ribbons extending alongb, with the planes of the cations lying parallel to (100).
